I've been enjoying Piastri this season. The kid is so calm behind the wheel, maybe too calm sometimes. He seems like he's been at this for years. Ditching Alpine seems to have already been a career defining move.
A real iceman. But we'll see what happens if McLarens car becomes a consistent top step competitor.

He's been mistake prone since Williams. And it's not just him. Maybe it's a symptom of all the sim racing they do as kids. They all lack finesse. Extremely quick over one lap, but lacking in the finer points of racing. You see this most prominently with Max. You can tell he jumped early from open wheel spec to F1. His wheel to wheel is highly reminiscent of what we see in Karting. There isn't always a race ending collision. But there's a lot of rubbing.
Max does seem to have a very NASCAR-like approach to F1 (at least when he is not in a Rocketship like the RB19). Reminds me of Dale Earnhardt in that "if you're not rubbing, you're not racing" way.

You know George is texting Rosberg for the name of his psychiatrist right now.
Probably has his Peloton on Craigslist to shrink his quads. Also thinner racing gloves :russ: Can't forget sleeping in another room from his woman to optimize sleep. Hamilton Teammate Syndrome is a bytch.

Lance stroll a broken man. Alonso broke stroll. Lewis had Alonso acting like Stroll is acting now, in his rookie season.

There are levels.

Iā€™ve seen enough. Piastri got future champ written all over him. Kid is incredible and has been since F3. Lando about to jump to Red Bull in 2025. :wow:

Points aren't earned in qualifying. His race pace leaves a lot to be desired in comparison to Norris. There have been plenty of drivers fast over one lap.
:mjlol:

Heā€™s a fukking rookie in an era with little on-track testing. Over the past decade, how many drivers came in and within the season were competing with a top 5 talent on any metric of pace?

Race pace and tire understanding comes with time and thereā€™s nothing from his career that says he wonā€™t be able to make that leap.

Teams were fighting over him for a reason. He swept F3 and F2 on the first try.

No need to go on the offensive. But drivers don't always develop those race pace/tire management skills. It's arguably the hardest aspect of the sport and the factor thT separates the truly elite from the merely great or good drivers Good on him, but the future champion moniker gets thrown about a bit too much in my opinion. The car matters, but generally the guys that are truly good enough will get a chance to show it at some point. Some drivers are better when the expectations are nil. So all I'm really saying is, we'll see.
