I really don't know how Sainz managed to keep that on track with Lewis on his gearbox. From the onboards, its clear the Ferrari is a devilish handling car.

Mercedes should've been up front considering their pace. Just a bad day operationally.

He just needed a good exit out of 8 or 9, and out of 13 to survive. Lewis couldn't do much without DRS today though. He didn't make in roads on the field until the DRS train was broken up.

If merc donā€™t fix up in every department theyā€™ll be ferarri status soon. It actually impressive what theyā€™ve done this season with poorly constructing a car to consistent below average pit stops to shotty strategy in quali and race.

Toto said they went and looked at other teams in sports and how they do and donā€™t get complacent. Idk if he looked hard enough honestly.

Edit: there is also a interview out there in German from yesterday that Toto says they stayed out on the first lap because George said they should stay out for 2-3 laps while Lewis was insisting they come in. George ainā€™t got the experience to be making that call for the whole team imo. Not enough to hold the 8 time champ out as well

They were fully prepared to leave them both out during the first rain, they were discussing the rain plan before lights out. Maybe they don't have enough experience at Zandvort to understand the rain, but after Sunday they need to commit to memory that this ain't Belgian weather. When it says it's gonna rain, take action. It just ain't the track to be caught up on the wrong tire at.

At the moment George is still on a back marker strategy mindset. If the gamble pays off then you look like heroes, if not no loss. This only holds true at the back of the pack, or when there's a no man's land gap between the front teams. That's why Red Bull was able to look like strategy geniuses in the early turbo-hybrid era. Too fast for the field but not fast enough for a pace challenge on Mercedes, but a lucky dice roll means big win. He can't pull those calls with McLaren as fast or faster and not enough raw pace to eat the field alive.

Hamilton questions pedigree of Verstappen team-mates
Lewis Hamilton has criticised a 'media narrative' that he believes has "blown up" Max Verstappen's dominance much more than his own and other former Formula 1 champions' success.

"The narrative, that goes through the mediaā€¦ you know when I qualified half a second, six tenths ahead of Valtteri, they didn't say the same thing as they say today when Max qualifies six tenths ahead of Perez - it's blown up much more," Hamilton said.

"And in my personal opinion, Valtteri, and actually all my team-mates, have been stronger than the team-mates that Max has had.

"Jenson [Button], Fernando [Alonso], George [Russell], Valtteriā€¦ Nico [Rosberg] - I've had so many.

"These guys have all been very consistent, and Max has not raced against anyone like that."

I don't understand F1 but why is Lewis bragging that he's had more help? Doesn't that hurt his GOAT case?

Imagine Bron coming out openly bragging that his teammates were better historically than MJ's :pachaha:

In F1 your teammate is your first rival. The better they are, the harder it is for you to win/achieve your goals. Lewis is saying his teammates have been better than Max's, which in turn has made life a harder for him (Lewis).

Right. Max hasn't driven with someone like Nico Rosberg, who to this day, if he's on a broadcast, will find a way to say something as mundane as his milk being spoiled is somehow Hamilton's fault. :mjlol:

Mercedes looking slow as hell today BTW.

Ferrari and McLaren are going to have a shootout for podium.
Race pace looked consistent, I don't know about competitive. 3 or so laps for tires to stabilize, then successive laps 2 or 3 tenths quicker within a tenth or so.

How is having competitive teammates more help? They're your primary rival since you're supposed to be in equal machinery.

Reddit formula one HEATED LOL
I love it. He usually holds back from these kinds of statements. But people slurp Max and Alonso when they say that kind of shyt. He's Dutch and blunt and hypercompetitive. He lives for racing. Alonso is just an ultimate competitor. Lol. Now nikkas want to play dumb and talk about etiquette and sportsmanship or whatever. Jokes.

The real discussion since the topic has been broached is Rosbergs level. He beat Schumi three seasons straight. We see what Alonso is doing. People tried to use Schumis age and even the fact he took a break as a way to diminish Nico. Where is that talk for Alonso?
