Damn, I wonder if Merc will have words with George for impeding Lewis. Could have been his 3rd place finish today.
I don't blame Russell at all.

We all know that there's no way Mercedes is catching up to AM, even if they were on super softs, much less on mediums that need to go for 30 laps. So Russell did the right thing and got his :manny:

More Merc incompetence. Ocon was given 10s last race for the exact same thing, why would they think it would only be a 5s penalty. Lewis could have nabbed that 4th slot.
I believe Alonso got a 10 second penalty because rear jack was touching the car while he was serving the 5 second penalty.

If Alonso was penalized during the race like Ocon he just would've made up that time and kept his podium, Mercedes got lucky.

Yes, I understand the penalty. Why are you explaining it to me? And Mercedes didn't get lucky. They're the ones that reported the violation to race control, but waited until late in the race to do so to limit AMs ability to respond.

Oh I had no idea that Mercedes were the ones that reported it.

Checo needs to calm down before RB hits him with one of their trademark 10 second pitstops to get him back in line :skip:

The funniest part is we ALL know that's coming in a few races, but if you mention that shyt on Reddit they'll flame you under the prison.

I figure they're going to get that off at Azerbajian because that's what they did last season there when he was on Max's ass and that allowed Max to keep the lead for the win.

FIA displaying their world class incompetence again. Alonso keeps P3.
Yeah, they should eliminate post-race penalties. If a driver is not penalized during the event, within a certain number of laps of the alleged offense, then there shouldn't be a penalty.

That doesn't solve their inability to properly and consistently their own rules.

"The Brazilian three-times Formula One champion Nelson Piquet must pay 5m reals (Ā£780k) in moral damages for racist and homophobic comments about Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton, a Brazilian court ruled on Friday.

In an interview in November 2021, Piquet used a Portuguese racial slur in reference to the seven-times world champion when commenting on Hamiltonā€™s crash with Max Verstappen at the British Grand Prix.

Hamilton called for action to change ā€œarchaic mindsetsā€ after footage of the interview surfaced last June. Piquet, 70, apologised to the British driver and said his comments had been mistranslated."

There's been talk of Lewis leaving Mercedes. I know he wants to win #8, but it's not looking good....

Canā€™t see it happening. To be fair, every year during contract negotiations these rumors pop up.

The only winning game in town is Red Bull, and they would risk destabilising their team by putting him next to Max.

Ferrari isn't a guarantee of success, neither is Aston Martin. It isn't like he has a plethora of competitive options.

Hope Merc gets the formula right or retire.

For me he already won 8, I have considered the depths of bullshyt that has been spewed to justify it but it was clear cheating. He can retire for me if he wishes.

he has all the post competition benefits to get from mercedes. in those terms it's probably a bigger opportunity than Ferrari.

but within the sport Ferrari is the no. 1 seat.

i still think he will leave for Ferrari if he doesn't have a competitive car by the end of this contract.

also: (breh's don't want to hear it) but his GOAT status will be in danger if Russell beats him again this year.

you can't be GOAT and lose to russell twice, button and rosberg in the same car.
