@Kunty McPhuck is right. That shyt was a once in a generation thing. La Masia had literally all time greats come out of the school within 5 years of each other. We won't see that again, IMO ever. But the homegrown talent is lax all around in Europe, there's no incentive to get young kids and train them up when you can just use your TV deal money to get the best players that can fit in damn near any system.

Tiki-Taka worked because it built upon Total Football, a system which Barcelona, and by proxy Spain, had been perfecting for the better part of 25 years before Pep took Barca to the promised land. That 25 years of youth and team development, 25 years than literally is being unmade in front of us because of the sheer money involved in the game. Name me any team that's going to be ok with 20+ years of development even if it means a decade of dominance.

Just to add on. If you look at Germany, who restructured their whole football from top to bottom in 2000 they won the world cup 14years later. And began to see the fruits 4 years earlier of the youth development. Even in the last 12months they have gotten to the Olympic final and won the Euro u21 with a half and half squad and also won the confederations cup with half of the players eligible from the u21 squad. Now 17 years later they can now produce 3-4 different squads to win the various tournaments at senior level.

And even in the rebuild they still managed to make a 1 world cup final, 1 Euro final and a world cup semi final.

Im not disputing what @Kunty McPhuck is saying just pointing out that Ajax generation had a better career then just only Ibra.
Sneijder won a treble (arguebly shouldve won a BDR that year) and is a WC finalist. Hardly can call that a bad career.

That was 7 years ago. What has Sneijder done since the World Cup 2010. He went from one of the world's top 10 players to not being mentioned at all.

If Dembele goes to Barca, he'll make them better, but Messi and Suarez will get all of the credit. Not interested in that.
He should just stay at dortmund for abit longer to develop properly. Hes getting good playing minutes and settled really well at dortmund i think its to early for him to go to barca.

IMO, Coutinho is a better midfielder than a winger. They'll still need Dembele if they want a player to play that Neymar style. Unless they plan on moving away from that.

Every club is a selling club till Barca, Madrid, PSG say's otherwise. :mjcry:

Hell, PSG finessed even barca :wow:

Coutinho is essentially a 10. He plays the base of Klopp's attacking diamond behind Mané, Salah, and Firmino.

Still don't think Coutinho will be sold this month. Spanish sources are working overtime to make it real. Even when Coutinho was reported to desire playing for Barca, it's a halfass demand. He will only go if Liverpool want to sell, and they have no desire to sell. They will next summer when they'll be able to reasonably replace him, but not now.

Double truth :salute:

Even still that was a country wide restructuring. Spain's dominance literally came from La Masia graduates + Sergio Ramos and Iker. There is no way that Spain wins that world cup with out the contributions of Barcelona and the Total Football system. And even after the most dominant decade from one team/country, they are nothing compared to what Germany is now because they didn't take the time to evolve. And it STILL took them basically 15 years.

Its the same reason why England will NEVER win the World Cup again. The prem is built up entirely of foreign talent outside of Harry Kane.

FSG don't fukk around. Torres had to file a transfer request before they sold him. When Arsenal triggered a good faith release clause in Suarez's deal FSG still refused to negotiate and forced Suarez to train on his own before he committed to another year. There's been absolutely no sign Coutinho wants out from teammates or coaches. Only way he leaves is if FSG decide to sell.

Im not saying he not flabby and sick now or his reign on top wasnt short like leprechauns. But by no means did he have a bad career.
