also we can't make excuses for players that wenger could've brought and bottled it. Remember Mata was begging us to sign him until Chelsea came swooping in
and we dodged a bullet. mediocre overpriced player only fancied because the spanish are in fashion, the iberian steward downing.

:deadrose: @ the bit in usmanovs letter about the board cold calling his company looking for deals not knowing he owned it. these fools kill me.

you cant have american owners cos theyre too used to making money off sports. look how they got their knickers in a twist about the nba/nfl stuff. they aint built for soccer. petrified of dropping a penny.

Thinking about that bergkamp buy, we also bought overmars and kanu under a black cloud as well

Wenger was ressurecting careers back then

The last time we bought big was Arshavin and look how that turned out.

fukking arsenal.....

(still might get a season ticket for the 13/14 season though  )

Never talk bad about Dennis.

Nah, you're right, it was the greatest gamble of all times, bought by Rioch no less, bergkamp and platt if I remember correctly.
dein signed him, as confirmed by ian wright.

do you seriously think arsenal would give a lower league tryout manager the authority to shatter arsenals transfer record then sack him within months? think pls.

Really? You just called Mata the Spanish Stewart Downing? :what:
middle of the range, basic wide player. no real flair. not creative. he'd be worth about 8-10 million if spain were still frauding like 10 years ago.

Vieira was also signed by dein just before wenger arrived, apparently on advice from wenger.

Or so the story goes.....

Reyes was another bad "big money" buy, but at least he helped the squad actually win things.
