everytime frush or anyone here says football players aint as good anymore i just :snoop::rudy:

the globalization of the game has taken away the "aura" of some players and nowadays everything is covered and seen unlike before...to me if anything i dont remember seeing that many good players ever talent wise..the game has evolved and like kunty says there is more games now and squad rotation is a MUST...

the problem( to me is a blessing) is that Messi/CR7 are once in a generation players and are a level above everyone else and it takes away from other great players that in other eras would be considered great or the best...when modern football (late 70's/ early 80's) "started" tell me how many players would score as many goals as say messi or cr7? they make it look easy but tell me what great players were scoring as many goals and making it look easy like them after "modern" football started? people were amazed when the R9 scored around 40 for Barca once but messi has done that for years and people are so spoiled nowadays by the likes of messi that when he doesnt score its a travesty/worst thing ever..

what globalization also did is the professionalism of football nowadays is much higher than before...shyt teams/countrys are more competitive/ or harder to break down do to the technological/medical/training advancements in soccer...the game was slower and there was more space back then but it has to do with what i stated above...now there isnt enough "space" but that has to do with the fact there is better training/athletes even in shyt countries/teams...also there is more "specialist" than before too but it has to do with the "space" on the pitch and tactical advancments made..

Damn, I think this is your most coherent post ever :ohhh:

I'm just giving you shyt. Good post! Good posts everyone!

Now for a random thought I had today, when will print die? :skip:

yea no doubt breh, but like i said its a shame some of you guys dont notice the greatness you are seeing when you see Messi play...it may be decades till we see someone dominate like him...some of these lads here are spoiled because they grew up in the age of the internet/social media where everything is seen/heard unlike before when i/kunty was growing up and greatness was appreciated more since sometimes it was really hard to see great players play on TV..shyt kunty can probably vouch for me but back then sometimes the only way to see certain great players was at the World Cup..shyt wasnt available like it is nowadays

i want these lads here to explain to me how the 80's/90's there were "more" great players than now for example...most teams in those times didnt have full squads full of great talent like now...back then most top teams had 2/3/4 world class players and teams were completely built around them by runners/hardworking players...most of the time you saw teams full of great players were in the NT and thats why the quality of NT was higher than the league level and now its the opposite

Oh yeah definitely.

The world's largest online realtor definitely spends most of their time tracking down amazon prime abusers and stopping their devious plans of getting free shipping on Battlestar Galactica boxsets.

It's odd because I hear so many different opinions about football from the years past. From the older posters here who seemingly grew up during the same era, but remembering things differently to other things I've heard.

I think mostly though from what I've seen people seem to think the players are better now, from 2000s or so to present.

I remember listening to Alan Davies pretty much having this conversation on The Tuesday Club and he said people would be in awe if a player perfectly controlled a long ball and that the skills nowadays are on another planet from what he remembered.

Dunno, :yeshrug: I guess I have no real qualms about football right now (cept the EPL):coffee:
