yea no doubt breh, but like i said its a shame some of you guys dont notice the greatness you are seeing when you see Messi play...it may be decades till we see someone dominate like him...some of these lads here are spoiled because they grew up in the age of the internet/social media where everything is seen/heard unlike before when i/kunty was growing up and greatness was appreciated more since sometimes it was really hard to see great players play on TV..shyt kunty can probably vouch for me but back then sometimes the only way to see certain great players was at the World Cup..shyt wasnt available like it is nowadays
i want these lads here to explain to me how the 80's/90's there were "more" great players than now for example...most teams in those times didnt have full squads full of great talent like now...back then most top teams had 2/3/4 world class players and teams were completely built around them by runners/hardworking players...most of the time you saw teams full of great players were in the NT and thats why the quality of NT was higher than the league level and now its the opposite
Even at youth level. The quality of football gets better there every year. Honestly if you watch some of the games you'll be blown away by the level of technique and tactical awareness shown by these kids.what globalization also did is the professionalism of football nowadays is much higher than before...shyt teams/countrys are more competitive/ or harder to break down do to the technological/medical/training advancements in soccer...the game was slower and there was more space back then but it has to do with what i stated above...now there isnt enough "space" but that has to do with the fact there is better training/athletes even in shyt countries/teams...also there is more "specialist" than before too but it has to do with the "space" on the pitch and tactical advancments made..

It's why I can't hate on him now even though it's the fashionable thing to do since the podcast got a bit too popular for some people.
look breh no disrespect you spewing a bunch of shyt...for those smaller nations you named (bulgaria, denmark, czech) those were never big "teams"... they just happened to have a great generation in those decades (bulgaria 90's, denmark late 80's/early 90's) but were not countries to be known for developing talents or always having talents and the majority of those countries had 2/3 world class players on their teams anyways so stop itIn the early 90's I was lucky that when I didnt have sky/satellite to watch EPL games on a sunday, I had Serie A to watch instead on normal tv. And that was when Serie A was the best league in the world. But for as far back as I can remember coverage of football from foreign leagues has been a satellite/cable thing, since the late 80's early 90's. Before Sky won the rights to English football, they use to show Spanish & Argentinean football on Screen Sport and Serie A on sky. Then once Sky got the rights to EPL with Gazza signin for Lazio C4 bought the rights to Serie A. Then by the mid 90's Sky got the right to La Liga and have shown it ever since. The only live coverage of European football on normal tv was either when the English teams were allowed back in Europe, or the European Cup final and there was highlights of European Cup games on BBC. Then when it got changed to CL ITV got the highlights package and live games. And if you had satellite/cable you had Eurogoals highlights package of the leagues around europe.
As for the 80's and 90's players > nowdays
I think that when you look at some of the NT's now like Italy, Argentina, Brasil, Portugal, Holland then smaller nations like Romania, Czech Republic Denmark & Bulgaria and then compare the players they had back in those times, it seems the quality doesnt match up.
Italy had Baggio, Del Piero, Zola, Maldini, Baresi then players like then add Totti and Vieri later on in the decade and then compare their players now outside of Pirlo & De Rossi now
Argentina had Diego, Batigol, Redondo, Crespo, Ayala, Zanetti, Veron, now outside of Messi and maybe Mascherano in midfield & Aguero nowdays, they have alot of inconsistent talent like a Banega, Levezzi (good at club level, but at NT not so much),
Brasil this generation seems to be overhyped and chokers. But then you had Real Ronaldo, Romario, Bebeto, Rivaldo, Dinho, Cafu, R Carlos, Aldair. Then you had the misfits like Edmundo, Denilson, Djalminha, Leonardo, midget Juninho, outside of Lucas, Oscar & Neymar nowdays the people above them like the Hulks, Freds are they really as good/talented as the players from 15-20 years ago
Portugal you had Figo, Rui Costa, Joao Pinto, Sa Pinto, Sousa, S Conceicao outside of C dot & the defence which is better now then back then are any of his teammates as good as some of those where
Bulgaria had that world 94 team, but just the main names Stoichkov , Kostadinov, Balakov, none of the present team is even half as good as they were
Czechs they had Nedved, Berger are their present players near to that level, if Rosicky is the only one who comes closest but his career been blighted with injury.
Denamrk had the Laudrups, are any of their players now half as good as those 2? Eriksen has potential but its probably got to leave Ajax to see if hes proper good and likewise with Fischer.
No more
Thats what I think people mean when they say 80's-90's ballers > today
Yeah I know I forgot Holland the 92-96 Ajax team > Holland today
There were restrictions on player movements particularly non European players. Many of the best South Americans and Africans did not play in Europe as they do now. Even taking that into account, these great club players now should show up in the NT, after all Barca players are winning with their NT as well and not just dominating the club scene. I dont think the current Portuguese team is as good as the 2000 team, the French 98-2000 and the one they have now as well as the Dutch 98 team compared to what they have now. I dont think the format of the tournament should make a difference towards the level of talent. Many Nt have regressed, Brazil went from a cycle of Romario-Ronaldo-Rivaldo-Ronaldinho to a team that is struggling to find a consistent number 9. France havent been the same after that 98-2000 generation left, they got to one other final with those old guys because the new generation are just not comparable to the older one.
I recall seeing Serie A in the late 90s, EPL when Sky took over. The la liga Messi/Ronaldo play in is not as good as the early 2000s , back then even Valencia got to back to back CL finals and that was the caliber of competition in addition to Deportivo. Real had to pretty much sacrifice the league to play well in Europe and the only teams that played well in both tournaments were Juventus,Bayern, and United to an extent. The wealth is concentrated in a few clubs and also the talent.

portugal were always shyt besides 66 and then the 90's generation came and they being a top 10 NT since then...France is the same...the NT level now its not as good anymore due to globalization..the small shyt countries now have professionalism and are not amateur anymore like they were in the 80's and before...the gap between the shyt and the top teams is not as big as before because these small nations now are professional and have proper training methods unlike before
club level tell me the teams that had a roster full of talents like Madrid, Barca, Man u and many top teams have now?...u kno that wasnt the case so dont even start..club level is now superior to NT for sure unlike before..the thing is that also the talent was more spread out before too since "money" wasnt big like it is now and many players stayed and played for the same team for years unlike now..
