And virtually no awareness of what's happening around him. He's one of those guys where you're just going to have to play him in a front 2 if you want to get the best out of him.

There's no point in having him out wide because he's incapable of creating for himself and others and you can't have him up front on his own because of his poor hold up play and inability to link up with his teammates. Have a focal point and just try to spam balls in behind for him and hope he takes enough of those chances. Shocking player.

Yeah. He's a play on the shoulder of the defender striker. Also he needs space/quick transitions like he had at Leipzig. If you've seen him play for Germany you can see he struggles in possession team, because the space isn't there.

TBold is very true :francis:

Bayern's reasons for not buying him:

Salihamidzic "Timo Werner is a good player who played an excellent first half of the season. However, we have Robert Lewandowski. Robert is a striker who fits our style of play perfectly. Robert has the ability to orientate himself in a tight space, the technique to move in tight spaces and to find extraordinary solutions with the ball.

"With his speed, Timo Werner needs more room, which he had in the system that Leipzig played. The system at RB has now changed, but it is still not as tight at the front as it is with us."

He was right, the guy lacks technique and can't operate in tight spaces. If he was legit then Bayern would have never let him leave Germany.

I'll give Havertz till this time next year. He's never had a proper position in his career so far and coming to play in the PL takes an adjustment period. There's plenty of players who have come to the PL and hit the ground running and after a good season they flopped the longer they went on. He has to play as the #10 either as the AM or as the SS tho, doesn't do enough to play as an 8 or as a winger.

Yeah I've seen him put in tepid performances for Germany but I used to chalk it off to the difference between international and domestic football in terms of the amount of time players spend together and developing an understanding.

The system at Leipzig hid his faults well because the biggest issue I had with him was that he was wasteful especially on one-on-ones but the way things were over there he essentially only got the ball when he'd gotten on his bike and started running into space. At the moment none of that is happening and he's just not good at the other aspects of football.

Play a back 3 with Kante and Kovacic at the base of midfield and Havertz/Mount/Ziyech in behind a front 2 of Werner and Giroud if that doesn't work then send Werner to the bench and go from there. I think that's the best way to get the most of the Germans right now whilst having a system with any degree of stability.

Lampard is on his way. Trust the process.

It's all the nerds and kids who played FIFA but had no friends.
Yeah but at the same time it’s FIFA kid like behaviour to judge players this quickly.

Speaking of Daniel James, he might join Leeds on loan.

Bielsa really admires him....
