The downside of academies.

Just thinking about the flair aspect slowly being eradicated, the death of streetball plays a part in that. The kids now are entering academy football so early and such an emphasis placed on technique and possession at that level along with all-round athleticism being higher than in previous generations. What is seen as the perfect athlete to play football, tekkers + athleticism, majority of the players will be clones. So it will make the football look more robotic as everyone will be doing the same thing.
This is currently happening in the NBA.

The LeBron generation (2001-2007) will be the last group of players that are unique and individuals. NBA players entering now have similar skillsets and teams play the same way.

And it's unbearable. We've gone too much in the other direction. Coaches and clubs trying to treat this like a computer model.

A part of the reason I fukked with Wenger. You will never see a team with players like Cazorla (weak), Sanchez (wasteful), and Ozil (doesn't track back) in the same team again. Everyone is going to be like Germany.

Thanks. Haven’t been watching long so I’ll go back and find some Ozil clips. It makes sense that you say that those types don’t exist much. I was trying to figure out who fit that style currently and was coming up empty. I missed that era :francis:

Someone like Jack Grealish is a throwback player. Possibly Foden.

Thiago, Joao Felix, Neymar, Dybala, Pogba are from a past era too but managers won't build the team around them. Have to see more of Havertz as well.

To be fair, not many clubs have spent. Only Chelsea and they haven't spent in a couple of years. Outside of them, Villa, Spurs, and Wolves (Money Laundering) it's been quiet in England.

I'll go one step further and say I find the entire team robotic. For the amount of talent they got on there, I find their matches a chore to watch at times.

I can't say that about any other PL club, and that includes Mourinho's Spurs that folk love to shyt on. Peps brand of football just ain't for me :hubie:

Facts. The shyt is :russell:. Soulless is the perfect word to describe it

I'd rather watch any other top 6 team.
