He didn't carry France to the 2018 World Cup. That was only four years ago, lol. You realize Antoine Griezmann was voted the second-best player at that tournament, right? Kante was also better than MBappe in 2018. MBappe's teammate. Griezmann was France's best player in this tournament too, until the Final.

And in their age 23/24 seasons, Messi was in the middle of scoring 91 goals for the calendar year. MBappe isn't going to do that this year.
yeah, definitely disagree with this one
ignoring stats and votes from media people, watching strickly from with my eye test, in that tounament, France most important players in tournament in terms of order were Mbappe/Pogba/Griezmann=Kante/back four.
I just realize I think this is where my anti Griezmann campaign might have kicked up. but I don't want to beat a dead horse I think Griezmann could have been replicable with Fekir. and be serious, Kante was not more important than Mbappe :what: France has no outlet passer and danger attacker with no Pogba and Mbappe because even in that tournament DD was having them play counter attack in most game. Kante was getting rinsed by Croatia in the finals and had to be taken off and France did absolutely fine.

Mbappe was already a bigger name than anyone in the Premier League the last world cup, this WC finals just solidify his name even more. if PSG, wins the CL(assuming he continues being the top scorer and threat guy), he will win the baloon D'or just like most Baloon d'or winners the last 20 years.

Outside the fact that Mbappe being a bigger name than anyone in the Prem in 2018 not being true. For the sake of objectivity - because I'm starting to doubt this thread's capacity at reading comprehension - when did I say Mbappe isn't/wasn't a big name or bigger than anyone in the prem?

I don't know where you got this idea that he needs to move to England to win and not have an asterik. when was the last time a PL player won one? most casuals and hardcore fans already have Mbappe as a top 3 player in the world AT WOST.

so no, I think it's just you that think this way. he'll be fine at psg

Again - please read to understand, not to reply - At no point have I said Mbappe isn't currently a top5 or top3 player or that he isn't understood as such by most. This conversation was being had in the context of GOAT. Here, to help you - PLEASE READ AND UNDERSTAND. I'M BEGGING YOU. THERE'S NOTHING SHAMEFUL ABOUT READING breh:

Mbappe has the potential to up there with GOATS but he has to leave Paris!

The more I think about it, the more I don't think he does. PSG is the team where he builds the foundations of his legacy. He gets a CL with them he will go clear.

Brother, no one takes the French ligue seriously. It might be one of them elistist ivory towers preconceived notions - a hilarious one even seeing as the French league regularly produces some of the best players - but it is what it is. The bias exists.

If he doesn't leave Paris for either England or Spain - that asterisk will always be there. The good thing is that time's on his side, but he needs to move in the next 2 years.

I repeat - Mbappe is currently one of the best players in world football, and is recognized by most as such. HOWEVER, he needs to leave Ligue 1 if people ever want anyone to take these "GOAT" claims seriously. Hence the asterisk. Dread it, run from it, but it's the reality.

Even in this thread you have brehs mentioning the French league tax. Do not be mad at me, reality is reality and I already regret discussing sports on thecoli cause evidently brehs are just responding anyhow and not to what's being said.

So then you agree that MBappe didn’t carry France in 2018 because that’s what my post says.

If he is recognised as one of the best then why does he need to leave

He has 1 world cup

Soon to break the world cup goal scoring record

Since he touched the champions league he has killed off some of the best teams

He wants to win the champions league with his hometown

He will get into every current team in the world, national or club level

People act like Spain n England are elite leagues

He will bag 30+ wherever he goes

in terms of goat talk, you could be right. But Pele never played in Europe and never won a balloon d'or and he's in the goat talk.

just for the record, I don't think Mbappe will be the goat, he's not as complete as Messi, Maradona or even Pele(Pele was more complete than people think)

having said that....
you're acting like the french league is the russian league or something, they are a top 5 league in europe :wtf:

all that asterisk talk is noise with a baloon d'or

his goal ratio in the cl is higher than the french league. including knockout stages.

again, Pele never played in europe. nor do I think Mbappe will be a goat.

They are compared to Ligue 1 :yeshrug:
Funny enough the elite prem players failed to show up at the world cup ( other than martinez)

In fact 2 of the best players was a 35 year old from the French league and his club team mate

If this current mbappe moved to England he would be the best player at every club

Well let's get it clear - I'm talking about Messi at 23 vs Mbappe at 23.

Spain now isn't elite, I would agree and I stopped following the Premier League a few years ago so wouldn't even know.

My point was more that Messi's LaLiga (up until 23) and the competition he faced in the CL etc was elite compared to Mbappe's Ligue 1 until now.
