france 2018 was just a very complete team. thats not the kind of team where their success is just one player carrying them. mbappe was a huge part of the success though he had a great cup

so in 1970 what team do you think beats brazil without pele? with jairzinho, rivellino, carlos alberto and all the other legends they aren't losing to peru or uruguay. italy would still be exhausted after the grueling semi with west germany so i think brazil wins the final again. maybe if england beat them in the group and they had to play west germany in the quarter final but i still think brazil would just have the best team
It was a contender but so were France, Brazil, England, Belgium, and Argentina had a squad in 2018, not as good as this year but very good, Croatia, Portugal who just won the Euros in 16 plus the failures of Germany and Spain which had high hopes coming into 2018. Brazil, Germany, and Spain had the best odds.

They had an excellent team without Pele but with Pele, that was a truly generational team like 12 Spain. To me, France 2026 should be one of the ages with a 27-year-old Mbappe. Brazil 2026 is gonna be tough too. Maybe the US finds a striker and gets more depth and becomes serious although it's just fanboy babble by me just hoping and wishing as a Nats fan.

I couldn't help but laugh at the "carried France at 19" claims :mjlol: The revisionist history is crazy

Guys like Platini and Cruff were arguably more talented, were amazing for their national teams and won multiple ballon'd ors and yet by and large are considered a tier below GOAT level

Mbappe has his work cut out for him

I love Cryuff too and you just lied like a bytchass nikka right here. This is one of those, Bird better than LeBron posts that just kills the forum's respect. This board is definitely bottom 5 when it comes to soccer IQ and knowledge of the game. The shyt I read here, only read it here. No one on BS or Reddit is saying stupid shyt like this.

Lionel Messi

Matches – 269

Goals – 181

Assists – 82

International Caps – 57

International Goals – 17

Kylian Mbappe

Matches – 303

Goals – 225

Assists – 111

International Caps – 66

International Goals – 36

Carried France to a WC title at 19 and carried them in the 2022 World Cup on some GOAT shyt (2nd place)

Though both Mbappe and Messi's primary role is to find the back of the net, they also have to demonstrate the complete range of abilities required for forward play, and that naturally means setting up goals for their teammates.

Mbappe has 80 assists, with 71 of those for PSG and nine for Monaco.

Full details for Messi's assists in each individual match he has played for Barcelona are not available, but by the end of the 2010/11 season, when he was seven months older than Mbappe is now, he had registered 65. Mbappe is already surging into the lead.

Men lie, Women lie, stats don't nikka.

Interesting...

Irrelevant. Not too long ago, Serie A players were dominating the Ballon d'Or voting. Times changed and times will always change.

I don’t even know what you’re trying to say here. Serie A holds more relevancy than either Ligue 1 or Eredivisie and even them are considered a lesser league than both La Liga or Prem.

“Times will change” - do you think all of a sudden the competitiveness of Ligue 1 will skyrocket if Mbappe wins the CL with PSG? What are you guys even saying?

People were already questioning him this past summer for not making the move to Real. It’s deluded to think he won’t be questioned if he spends his whole career at a less competitive league. Coli bubble is insane.

It's just dumb to compare Mbappe to Messi, Messi's skills are just on a whole another level. Basically a GOAT talent that didn't waste a single ounce of that talent.

Even if Mbappe is ever able to match his statistical output it will be extremely difficult to do it consistently over 12-15 year period. And I don't even like to put this out in the ether but with Mbappe's style of play, that's reliant on pace, a single major injury would significantly affect his future.

Mbappe is an amazing player, enjoy the way he's playing now instead of prognosticating what might happen in 5-10 years time because so much shyt can go wrong. We've seen amazing talents derail their careers due to personal, mental or criminal circumstances :francis:

Breh, in all this, it’s Ronaldo Stan’s I feel bad for. They are going to be SICK when the Mbappe vs Ronaldo debate starts
