Imma be real, there isn’t any way. You can talk trophy count (Messi already had two champions league medals by MBappe’s age), but Mbappe isn’t the goal scorer Messi was in his prime. Then you look at the complete attacking force Messi was with his passing, dribbling, off the ball runs, maneuvering in tight spaces, etc. MBappe isn’t on that level. And nothing is wrong with that either.

Messi is the GOAT, imo. There is no shame in MBappe not being at that level.
Mbappe is a better scorer at the same age. Mbappe is far more versatile offensively. Mbappe cannot be marked by two defenders. You gotta have a shift to guard that nikka. That's Pele/R9 shyt. His ability to play the pass is world-class. His speed is world-class. His speed with the ball is world-class. His dribbling is world-class. His strength is world-class with the ball at his feet, not without the ball of course. His feel for the game is world-class. His passing is world-class when he's focused. That's the area I will give Messi and even CR7 over Mbappe is focus but when Mbappe is focused, you can't do shyt with him and when he wants to carry his team, he does just that, regardless of others. That's not Messi. I've watched too many games where Messi just mopes around the pitch. When he has great squads like this one or the Barca ones, he rarely mopes and is always a threat but I've seen Messi mope a lot, especially his last year at Barca. It wasn't pretty or even last year at PSG.

I like my elite players to feel like they are two nikkas on the pitch like you playing 12 on 11. That's what Mbappe is. That's what Pele was. I even loved what Maradona was. He can just carry motherfukkas and make them much better. I never got that feel from Messi. I have always seen him as a finisher or perfect fit when you need to get over. He's not that guy that you just have him carry you. I felt CR7 was better at that. R9 was better at it. Zidane was better at it. Maradona was way better at it. Pele and Mbappe, way better at it. I prefer LeBron. I prefer Tom Brady. I prefer Cam Newton at Auburn. I don't know if it's a personality thing but he's not that guy to me and for me, that's why he ain't that guy as an unquestioned GOAT. Pele is. I like mfers to carry mfers to greatness.

Lionel Messi

Matches – 269

Goals – 181

Assists – 82

International Caps – 57

International Goals – 17

Kylian Mbappe

Matches – 303

Goals – 225

Assists – 111

International Caps – 66

International Goals – 36

Carried France to a WC title at 19 and carried them in the 2022 World Cup on some GOAT shyt (2nd place)

Though both Mbappe and Messi's primary role is to find the back of the net, they also have to demonstrate the complete range of abilities required for forward play, and that naturally means setting up goals for their teammates.

Mbappe has 80 assists, with 71 of those for PSG and nine for Monaco.

Full details for Messi's assists in each individual match he has played for Barcelona are not available, but by the end of the 2010/11 season, when he was seven months older than Mbappe is now, he had registered 65. Mbappe is already surging into the lead.

While Mbappe is on track to surpass Messi’s spectacular achievements at the age of 23, it is crucial to remember that the Frenchman will also be expected to sustain his current level for another decade or so, which will be far from easy.

He didn't carry France to the 2018 World Cup. That was only four years ago, lol. You realize Antoine Griezmann was voted the second-best player at that tournament, right? Kante was also better than MBappe in 2018. MBappe's teammate. Griezmann was France's best player in this tournament too, until the Final.

And in their age 23/24 seasons, Messi was in the middle of scoring 91 goals for the calendar year. MBappe isn't going to do that this year.

Messi already had two ballon d'ors at this stage and was in the middle of scoring 91 goals in a calendar year.

MBappe ain't close to that.

And that's not including that Messi is a much better footballer than MBappe is.
That Ballon D'Or bullshyt is bullshyt. Karim wasn't as good as Mbappe was last year. No one was. I wish we would stop politics in football. It's stupid as shyt. Modric won Ballon D'Or. That shyt is retarded and on the level of the NBA MVP award. It doesn't mean anything most of the time. Rarely do they get it right. It's never the best player in the world unless it's the media sucking off Messi/Ronaldo.

Stick to Arsenal and the Wizards breh. Awards don't mean shyt to me unless it's earned like at the CL, domestic play, or Intl' tournaments where it's earned.

You don't know what you are talking about. Genuinely. You need to stop.
Stick to Washington sports, Goldlink, the 100000k soccer aka English Premier league thread, and Arsenal nikka. This shyt ain't for you lil man. Go watch a Robbie reaction video and do something constructive because you ain't it breh.

Yeah fam, most people gonna look at that MBappe is more versatile than Messi comment and laugh.

At least Ronaldo could score goals with his head. MBappe don't even do that, lol.

MBappe's weakness is he thinks is skillset is more varied than it actually is. He wants to be a ten when he should just score goals. The moment he realizes that, we can have this conversation.

Mbappe carried them nikkas after the group stage. I stand on that too. Griezmann had a great tourney too in 2018 as did Pogba and Kante. Still was a carry job offensively.

Mbappe doesn't play for the most lethal squad either. His career isn't over yet. He will be on a team better suited for his talents than wack-ass PSG where they won't even be the same squad in 2023-24 anyway. Messi Barca's years from 2009-2013 were some of the best displays we have ever seen from a player in club football but that shyt was on the most stacked fukking squad ever. They would have dominated without him and Tiki Taka did aka Spain's dominance in that era. Did Messi play for Spain? No, so why ya'll give him all of the credit?

Seriously, nikka explain that to me. If Messi is so good, why was Tiki Taka the most dominate style and Spain dominated? Why didn't Argentina dominate in that same period if Messi is that guy?

Most people with sense would agree if we are talking about at the same stage at 23 but continue to act like a goofy like this is the LeBron/MJ threads.

Mbappe can score with his head, he can score every type of way. Far more than the lefty who spams the same shyt.

No, simply no. Mbappe weakness is simple. He isn't always focused. He doesn't always play hard. Messi does. CR7 does. Pele does. Maradona and Mbappe as well as R7 don't always bring it. They just be chillin at times. Them other dudes loved seeing Elbar or Sevilla on the schedule. Mbappe be chillin when he sees Troyes.

mbappe has 12 goals in 14 WC matches at age 23. He had 4 goals four years ago at age 19. Won the golden boot this year.

Already he's with in 4 goals of the all-time leader and will probably appear in 2-3 more WCs..

The international resume is already historic..

Today is not the day to sh-t on Mbappe :mjlol:

this is why I already have mbappe in the GOAT convo
in a few years, his stats are going to start approaching Messi/Ronaldo
soccer isn't like American sports...most top players are on stacked squads where they can feast on weaker teams and stat pad
parity is much greater in America

what matters is how you perform in the biggest games in the champions league and world cup

Bears stand and scream loud in a forest too.

Those Spain teams famously didn't score goals. Guess what Messi does really well, lol.
Bears also eat and brutalize deers like you.

LMAO, a team that dominated, damn near the greatest international squad of all time didn't score goals ya'll? You see why I can't with these goofy nikkas on thecoli. This nikka got a million posts on soccer on this site and dumb as bricks. That's why I stick to Reddit and Big Soccer when it comes to the beautiful game.

I went to that 1000000k thread and it was like the world's dumbest nikkas talking soccer and I had to bounce. Few nikkas like Liu Kang post shyt that makes sense. Most of the time, it's like talking to Nigerians talking soccer. Loud, arrogant, and low Soccer IQ. I used to record every Juventus game when I was in middle school. Del Piero was my favorite player. I loved Totti, Gabby, so many greats. Ya'll dudes on here just ain't it man and I say that respectfully and I still fukk with you outside of soccer. I love your takes for other US based sports honestly. But when it comes to soccer, the white boys got more sense than ya'll nikkas outside of the stans and fanboys who are idiots regardless of race.
