He interviewed the CEO of the Supreme Committee just a couple days ago. They definitely know who he is. You're being way too dismissive about this. Not saying they killed him, just wait and see.

It might be medical but the family would be fools to not fully investigate the situation.

I was thinking the same thing. if only it wasn't Wondowloski at the end of it

edit: Actually I got that wrong, I'm thinking of another play

It was deep into second extra time and US down 2-1. That Wondo one though. If he out that in, US wins but I can’t say that, Belgium missed about 5 easy chances at least in that game.

From his own sub stack account of the shirt incident he says he was stopped for 30 minutes then a security commander apologized to him and let him watch the game.

Now the idea is two weeks the Qatari Government decided to kill him in the middle of a World Cup they are desperate to see succeed? At a quarterfinal he was covering? I don’t think I’m being hasty here at all.

They know who all journos are I sure. Apart from the lengthy registration process, 15000 facial recognition cams (Anyone who attends the 2022 World Cup in Qatar can expect to be watched by 15,000 cameras with facial-recognition technology) and mobile computing, Journos wear fancy name tags around their necks to help out.

Bullshyt. In-game penalties are rare as hell - so far this year there's only been 14 penalties shot in 58 games, and even that number is distorted by the fact that they let Messi shoot a penalty in every game. Since two teams play every match, if your name isn't Messi than your team had less than a 1 in 10 chance of taking a penalty in any one game (11 penalties across 111 non-Argentina team games played).

On top of that, only 1 out of 16 players shoots that in-game penalty. So not only do 90% of the teams not shoot a penalty, but over 90% of the players on any one team aren't going to be the one shooting it even if they do. So if you're a World Cup soccer player there is less than 1 in 100 chance that you'll shoot an in-game penalty at any point in the World Cup.

Yet then you do this totally artificial penalty shootout where most of the players involved would never be picked to shoot the in-game penalty, where they all do it in an artificial atmosphere lined up one after the other, and where the goalie is in sync defending them instead of just getting one in the course of play. There's a reason why success rate in penalty shootouts is significantly lower than success rate in in-game penalties.

NONE of the players kicking penalties for the Netherlands has taken an in-game penalty shot at any point this entire World Cup. Same goes for Brazil in the shootout they lost. Same goes for Japan in the shootout they lost. Morocco hadn't taken a single in-game penalty all World Cup before their shootout, nor had Croatia before they shot 10 of them in shootouts.

It's ridiculous that half the World Cup semifinalists have already been decided based on something that resembles a practice drill more than any actual gameplay.

So I assume you were hoping for Brazil to go through ?

Games weren't decided just by penalties. Both Brazil and Netherlands has 120 minutes to score more than the opponent, they didn't manage to. So games go to who can score more from 11m. Its fair for both teams, they have the same predicament...

What would be your suggestion ? Replay ? There's already too many matches as it is...

lol - just because your opinions are based solely on your biases doesn't mean mine are. I wasn't caring much about anyone in the last eight. I'll root for Morocco and I guess besides them I like France more than anyone else.

Golden Goal with additional extra time, play the rest of the bench, decreasing players in extra time, attacker-defender-goalie, any of those options would be better.
