Yeah it's some BS that this even happened. DC is about to have.a complete makeover in the next 5 years.

Barry Farm and Anacostia are in development to be changed

Lowkey now is the time to cop in SE if you got something saved up. Benning Road ain't even what it used to be anymore.

Amazon hasn't even brought in their White and Asian employees yet.

DC gonna be majority White by 2030, 60%+ White by 2040.

Blacks will continue to move to PG County and down south. I know quite a bit of folks who wanna settle down in places like North Carolina or South VA eventually.

Yep, Amazon is bringing 20k employees. You figure that at least 75% of those workers will be white and or asian, so expect at least 17.5k more whites and asians into the metro area. Add in spouses and such and it's a wrap.

On the bolded, while I get the appeal of this from a COL perspective, I do think it could possibly further widen the opportunity gap for blacks in America. Ain't no Amazons or Googles down in South VA (Hampton Roads/7 cities area). Cities hoard the best talent and ideas, there's a reason people are rushing back to cities. There's also the network effect that cities bring. It may be nice to move down south to someplace "simplier" but while young, I think it's paramount that the black community look for where the best economic opportunities lay.

Wherever you see construction and building cranes is a good sign of development, especially if it's near a metro center.
Inshallah if I stay in this city I will be able to but something

Most of the Amazon workers will be in VA. DC will probably return to being majority white but not by 2030, that’s too soon

I agree. The opportunities are in the DMV. Black people shouldn't be running away from the prosperity that is abounding in the area. :yeshrug:

Idk G. Amazon is coming close to Pentagon City which is like 6 stops from U-Street and 10 stops from DuPont. I could see a lot of the younger workers moving to the Shaw neighborhood. Commute would only be 20ish minutes on the metro from Shaw and like 30ish from DuPont. VA will definitely house some people, but people who prefer the 'excitement' of the city will stay in DC proper.

They did the math: Amazon will barely impact our already supercharged housing market
This article has some good info, most places are saying the impact won’t be as drastic as people are saying
