Boy, 15, Arrested in Fatal Shooting of Mother of Six

Dallas police have released surveillance video of a second suspect in a deadly dollar store robbery.

Investigators believe the man seen in the newly released video is linked to the murder of 27-year-old Gabrielle Monique Simmons.

The mother of six was killed Monday at a Dollar General store in east Oak Cliff where she worked.

Investigators said security cameras captured an armed man demanding property from Simmons at the store in the 4800 block of Sunnyvale Street at about 7 p.m. Monday.

The fiance of the woman who was fatally shot Monday when robbed while working at dollar store in Dallas says he plans to take her children back to Mississippi, from which they recently moved to North Texas.

Simmons handed the money to the man, who then shot her in the chest before leaving the store and running down a side street.

Police said Simmons was rushed to Baylor University Medical Center, where she died shortly after.

Her sister-in-law, Taiesha Parker, said Simmons and her family moved to North Texas from Mississippi last year for a better life and to give her kids more opportunity. Simmons' children range in age from seven months to 11 years.

"She didn't deserve it. She left behind a whole league of kids who just don't understand," Parker said.

Parker says Simmons worked at the Dollar General because four of her six children attended the elementary across the street.

Simmons' fiance, Aris Joseph, said the children are able to stay strong because their mother taught them how.

"She taught me so much, and I learned so much from her about these kids. That's why I'm not worried, because she put her foot down before she left. She made sure everybody was able to hold up if she ever leave," Joseph said.

Joseph says his phone has been ringing non-stop since he lost his partner of 11 years. He says he's overwhelmed with the support.

"I appreciate it all from everybody. Really, all I can do is just hold onto my kids, you know, and go with it," Joseph said.

He said he now plans to take the kids back home to Mississippi.

The suspected shooter is described as a male, wearing ripped blue jeans, a dark-colored hoodie, a turquoise baseball cap and black tennis shoes with white soles. He was carrying a blue gym bag.

Police said they believe the second person was acting as a lookout for the gunman inside the store. A description of that second suspect has not been given.
