Jayron Kearse was absent in the blowout victory on Thanksgiving against the Washington Commanders, sidelined by back tightness that cropped up on a short week — preventing him from playing in two days in a four-day span.
The veteran safety is trending in the right direction for this week, however, according to head coach Mike McCarthy on Sunday, which is technically a Wednesday as it relates to the Cowboys' practice schedule ahead of their second consecutive Thursday contest.
McCarthy noted that Kearse "looks good" and has a "good chance" of playing when the Seattle Seahawks visit AT&T Stadium later in the week.
In his absence, it was second-year safety Juanyeh Thomas taking the lead, and if Kearse is unable to go in Week 13 — due to a setback or the like — it would again be Thomas getting the start; but the initial news is promising on Kearse.
