What didn't you like about La Strada?
I liked it more than L'Avventura for sure.

It wasn't bad..nothing i particular dislike about it.. and the first hour was pretty enjoyable.. but for some reason i just don't find italian films as entertaining as french or asian ones

Same here. Japan might be my favorite country for foreign film.

EDIT: and that's not including their godly animation

still on the fence about buying The Night of the Hunter

The extras :blessed:

Mitchum :blessed:

Everything after Rachel is introduced :scust:

The ending :what:

The tension in that film was insane and almost outweighs the shytty parts, but I might just end up copping it used.

man if you are even on the fence about Night of the Hunter, you lost. Its one of the greatest movies ever made, period. The only lackluster part of the film is the ending, but if you look at the historical context of the time the movie was made in 1955, that ending was forced by the producers...film is a masterpiece

I think it's more the fact that it was an American film more than anything. I think if it was made in Germany or even England they could've gotten away with it.

Only one of those films which isn't great is the Sturges...

I loved L'avventura as well. Antonioni at the pinnacle of his b&w framing. The cinematogrphy of that film is flawless. Monica Vitti's pacing is perfect. The scene of all the men staring at her in the town square is an all-time great moment in film.

Criterion needs to put out some Bruno Dumont. Really want a good looking copy of The Life of Jesus...
