loved it..that cheesy happy ending brought it down a notch for me.. i gave it an 8 on imdb..would have given it 9 or maybe 10

Yea, Charles made the ending cheesy I bet because of pressure from producers since the movie was so dark and nasty already...to make a film like that in 1955 was unheard...a religious serial killer, trying to kill kids, etc...shyt was very dark for that time period

I agree with you, it does throw the movie off at the end, but in that historical context, I'm pretty sure that's exactly why that ending was filmed.

It's supposed to be like a Mother Goose fairy tale. Watch it with that in your mind and you will see it
