Which was a mistake because he didn't follow either very well.

No. He was the ultimate Xavier follower before 2001. Cyclops HATED Magneto in the Claremont years...when Rogue gave Magneto the benefit of a doubt in the relaunch in X Men 1 and saved her from that nuke, Cyclops automatically assumed he attacked her. I'm truth? This whole Cyclops thing was a ripoff of what they were doing with Polaris in 2003 when she heeled on everyone but still stayed with the team. Killing when got too out of line..surviving the Genoshan massacre logically changed her. But they did a huge Cyclops push after they sent her to space.

Think about his evolution though. He was a child soldier on the frontlines, groomed to be the leader. And not just the leader, but the face of their kind for future generations. He's confronting an extremist, hate-groups, government and random people all while being taught a peaceful coexistence. Not only is he bttling them outside, but his home is constantly being attacked. But he grew up in this all while remaining a boy scout (for the most part). So as he started noticing the shady ish his mentor has done over the years, he's also noticing that Xavier's views will never work. They will never be safe. But he still adopted a philosophy of "we're gonna be heroes but never forget that we're different and powerful." He united every remaining mutant after M Day and gave them a sanctuary, no questions asked. Namor and Mags bowed down.

Cyclops deserves a lot of respect based on his character arc. Its sad that Marvel is basically killing him as yet another attempt to destroy the X-Men IP.

Does Marvel really plan on continuing this Carol push? This has been the absolute worst display of a character they're tryna make happen. They must be banking on someone else. I hope not Crystal or Medusa

Terrible push :wow:

But yea.... they got time to fix her. Or maybe they'll just update her character personality/etc after the movie :yeshrug:

Not following the current books, but Carol Danvers has been an awful character ever since Bendis got ahold of her. She's a neurotic bytch.

the problem is that while charles way may never work, trying to be like max will definetely end with every mutant on earth killed. while he didnt have to be like charles, charles could have really helped him be more diplomatic. the fact that theres still derision amongst mutants to this day is telling of that, but i think a unified house appearance would have gone far. in the end though, he ended up a failed amalgam of both max and charles that most mutants shyt talk, and its depressing as hell. but honestly i feel the "cyclops was right" thing did more damage to his character than it helped

Xavier is a liar and a straight up cheat..in case you missed X Men Genesis and X-Men #54(The Jean Grey pedo revelation)...Magneto's way is what Cyclops has been following all this time..doing the old school Cable 90s stuff where he would borrow from Xavier and Magneto and lead X Force with those methods. It finally backfired when Stryfe made his move and everyone blamed Cable and X force when Xavier was looking good as dead.

And Magneto was right...about Civil War and how mutants are seen in the world. That's why he can inspire the Psylockes, Briars, and everyone else to get behind his latest missions.
