did they retcon that whole ordeal in wolverine involving the native?(that hot chick that turns into a wolverine like werewolf as her power) it was like a retelling of the silverfox story, except wolvey got her pregnant and creed killed her WHILE WITH CHILD and told wolverine he was doing him a favor (which in a way is true because if she lived there would be all sorts of wolverine clones running around)

Wolverine is 100+ years I'm sure there are all sorts of wolverine clones he don't know about. Not to mention he killed 6 of his kids already. Wolverine is the worst comic dad ever.

Update: Despite confusing phrasing in the initial Times piece, The Sandman: Overture is not one of the "six new" series Vertigo is releasing in the fall of 2013. Additional details, including all six series and creative teams, were announced via press release later in the day on Monday.

First, DC Comics and Vertigo released official descriptions for the three series that Times did announce, Hinterkind, The Discipline, and Dead Boy Detectives, including revealing the creative team on the latter, and the artists on the first two.

Hinterkind – Decades after “The Blight” all but wiped out the human race, Mother Nature is taking back what’s hers and she’s not alone … all the creatures of myth and legend have returned and they're not happy. After her grandfather disappears, Prosper Monday must leave the security and seclusion of her Central Park village to venture into the wilds to find him, unaware of how much the world has changed. An epic fantasy adventure set in a post-apocalyptic world, Hinterkind is written by Ian Edginton and illustrated by Francesco Trifogli, and debuts this October.

The Discipline – Launching this December, The Discipline is a dark, erotic thriller about a privileged young woman named Melissa who is thrust into a centuries old battle between good and evil. She begins an affair with a mysterious man named Orlando who opens her eyes to a sexually sinister world she never knew existed. Through this ritualistic seduction (“The Discipline”), Orlando unlocks Melissa’s inner power and then enlists her into a shadowy war that has been fought for centuries. The Discipline comes to you from writer Peter Milligan and artist Leo Fernandez.

Dead Boy Detectives - Spinning out of the pages of Neil Gaiman's Sandman, two dead British school boys star in their own monthly series and solve crimes in the 21st century with the help of a new female accomplice. Premiering in November, Dead Boy Detectives is written by noted British novelist Toby Litt with layouts and painted covers by Mark Buckingham (Fables).

In addition to revealing the information and creative teams of those titles, DC also announced three more. Suiciders, by Lee Bermejo as both writer and artist, Coffin Hill by writer Caitlin Kittredge and artist Inaki Miranda, and the return of the anthology The Witching Hour with contributors like Kelly Sue DeConnick, Cliff Chiang, and a host of newcomers. Follows are DC's official description for those three series.

Suiciders – Hitting the spinner rack this December, this new series marks the incomparable Lee Bermejo’s (Joker; Batman: Noel; Before Watchmen: Rorschach) debut as an ongoing series comic book writer and artist. Suiciders follows the lives of two futuristic boxers – one on top of the world, the other trying to fight (and kill) his way there. Set in Los Angeles after “The Big One,” “Suiciders” is the wildly popular reality sport that contestants are literally dying to be a part of … and to be the best, you have to murder the best.

Coffin Hill – When she was 15, Eve Coffin summoned a darkness that had been buried since the Salem Witch Trials. Now Eve’s back to harness the evil that destroyed her friends and is slowly taking over the sleepy town of Coffin Hill. This is a series full of magic, madness and murder via a twisted family of New Englanders. Arriving in stores this October, Coffin Hill combines the talents of artist Inaki Miranda (Fairest: The Hidden Kingdom) with writer Caitlin Kittredge, a young, dark fantasy author whose writing includes the Nocturne City, the Black London, and the Iron Codex series of novels – which include the recently published titles Dark Days and The Mirrored Shard.

The Witching Hour – Just in time for Halloween, this anthology-style one-shot collects short stories exploring witchcraft written and drawn by some of the most talented veterans and newcomers in the business – including Kelly Sue DeConnick, Cliff Chiang, Lauren Beukes, Emily Carroll, Matthew Sturges, Shawn McManus, Tula Lotay and many more.

THE DISCIPLE comes to you from writer Peter Milligan and artist Leo Fernandez.

Original Story: Neil Gaiman and J.H. Williams III's new Sandman mini-series, set prior to the original Sandman #1 that was the unofficial "first" Vertigo series for DC Comics, finally has a name and a release date.

The Sandman: Overture will debut on October 30, 2013, as announced Monday morning on NYTimes.com. The series will run in alternating months with "Special Edition" versions of each issue in the off-months, showing sketches and commentary. A special "translucent word balloon" invented by letterer Todd Klein will be used in the Special Edition versions to show off more of Williams III's artwork.

"The most peculiar thing for me about returning to ‘Sandman’ is how familiar it all feels," Gaiman told the Times. "When I was writing Sandman from 1987 to 1996, I never had the feeling at any point that approximately 50 million people were looking over my shoulder scrutinizing ever word."

Sandman actually debuted before Vertigo became an imprint at DC Comics, but was retroactively included via many trade and hardcover editions after joining the imprint in 1993. Just as it led the way for the imprint's success then, executive editor Shelly Bond who finds it "liberating" to announce these titles and DC Comics hope it will lead the way for a new wave of Vertigo series coming this fall.

While two remain unannounced, the Times did have base details on three more of the series. Hinterkind by Ian Edginton (already a Vertigo veteran) "focuses on a post-apocalyptic world in which the creatures of myth and legend have returned." The Discipline, by fellow Vertigo vet Peter Milligan, is "an erotic thriller about a woman at the center of a shadow war that spans eons." Neither series had an artist announced in the story. Likewise, Dead Boy Detectives, itself a Sandman spin-off, had no creative team listed in the announcement. That leaves three (Note: we inadvertently reported only two additional titles due to incomplete information from the original story) titles yet to be more than teased.

Anyone familiar with the Gary Friedrich(creator of Ghost Rider/Johnny Blaze) and Marvel case? The judged ruled against him during the first case, but the ruling was overturned and now they're heading back to court.

Marvel/Friedrich GHOST RIDER Case Gets November Trial Date

The ongoing legal dispute between Marvel and Ghost Rider co-creator Gary Friedrich will be decided by a jury this November, Deadline reported Friday.

A federal judge has ordered the trial, regarding the copyright to the long-running Marvel character, to start on Nov. 4.

Earlier this month, the Second Circuit Court of Appeals overturned a previous ruling in favor of Marvel, thus sending the case back to court. Friedrich's legal issue dates back to 2007, the same year a live-action movie featuring the Johnny Blaze version of Ghost Rider, debuted.

what type of control/compensation does a creator usually get, especially for one that has been in movies and other things?

edit

Read a bit more on the issue, and things such as 'work for hire' contracts and the way they have been used over time.

A bit lengthy so i wont post the whole thing but Mark Waid expalains in great detais with examples of how things are handled http://thrillbent.com/blog/how-dc-contracts-work/

but even then things can become muddled especially if more than one person created the character, such as the Walking Dead, or the contract itself is disputed.

All of those new Vertigo titles sound cool. Hopefully this is the beginning of a new renassaince for the imprint and a couple of those books blow up and become the new Sandman or Preacher.

This page will be remembered in time as a Top 10 Doom moment. That panel where he stands over Alex captures all the turning gears in Doom's mind right now, both the schooling he received from Reed and Strange as well as him literally being told what will be by a young Kang & co. Great stuff.

:ohlawd:
Scott needs to slap his little Uncle Atomic brother around.

I liked Kitty explanation to the X-Men from the past on why she wants to be called a mutant

It's like...dog...you can't sacrifice your identity and the identity of your people just to make these people feel safe. Motherfukkers were victim to a Genocide AND M-Day and yet still you got mutants tap dancing for massa and shyt. No one said you gotta join the Brotherhood but damn man you sounding really funny style right now.

Cap don't even like you like that either :smh:
