What did the Coli think about Ultimate X-Men #1 and Ultimate Black Panther #2?
It was ok. A little of a step back from issue 1. I wish they introduced new characters in it instead of rehashing the old stuff. I think T'challa needs a woman who is going to be loyal. That scene with the gunfire was stupid too.

X-Men in Alaska

In the title simply known as X-Men, a team consisting of Cyclops, Beast, Magneto, Psylocke, Kid Omega, Temper (formerly known as Oya), Magik, and Juggernaut will be based in Alaska. For Cyclops, it's been his home twice before - it's where he was born, and also where he went after he quit the X-Men for a time in an attempt to lead a normal life - and now it's where he and his team will be based as they reach out to struggling mutants to try to help them.

X-Men in New Orleans, Louisianna

In the longest-running X-Men title, Uncanny X-Men, a team comprised of Rogue, Gambit, Nightcrawler, Jubilee, and Wolverine will be headquartered in the Big Easy. For Gambit, it's the town he's eternally linked to, if you can't tell from his French-Cajun accent... and now it'll be the home ground for a team that executive editor Tom Brevoort promises will put mutants back at the center of the wider Marvel Universe.

X-Men in Chicago, Illinois

Although you wouldn't know it, Emma Frost has strong ties to Chicago - her former company Frost International was based here - as does Kate Pryde, who went to school at the University of Chicago after leaving the X-Men. As it happens, Exceptional X-Men writer Eve L. Ewing also is based in the city, and her new series centers around both Kate and Emma as teachers for several new mutants including ones named Bronze, Axo, and Melee.

These three titles begin rolling out July 10, with each having monthly comic books by September.
I wonder will the Uncanny X-Men folks run into the Strange Academy kids since Strange Academy is also in New Orleans

Haven't read UBP #2 yet, but I didn't like UXM #1. I'll give it two more issues before I decide to drop it.
I honestly don't even know what an Ultimate X-Men book should look like lol

Krakoa was the ultimate (no pun) palette cleanse that the IP needed, but with that butchered and overcooked... i think many are a bit burnt out on the grand spectacle of it, which is why i suspect they're aiming for a more grounded approach with the announced 616 revamps...

While I think the general consensus is that the Krakoan era did not live up to its full potential, the premise was fresh and innovative. I'm not sure I can go back to reading straight up super hero X-Men antics again. It seems like a regression imo.

There's so much untapped potential from a story telling standpoint that has been left on the board with the Krakoan era.

I'll give this a shot but I'm not overly excited.
Thats because Cyclops and Emma are boring. I was never into that Rogue and Gambit crap. The ended the angst for a fairytale marraige? Still got good. What is up with Juggernaut's powers? How is Nimrod able to give him a fight of any sort? Lol. And why is there is no follow up to Magneto and Storm? She staying on Mars in her own book?

This run will be unremarkable except for Gail's stuff she tells good team stories.

That's because of Hickman. He bounced half way through.
