You do realize he was regarded as a great writer cause of his work on JSA, Teen Titans, Infinite Crisis and his 50 issue Wally West run....

all of which had nothing to do with replacing current characters with their old counterparts....

Teen Titans was average, Infinite Crisis was not good, did not read Flash, I think I read JSA but I dont remember

Like I'll say this, theres ok comic writing and them theres great
