Just got back from 10 days in Italy
Venice, Naples, Amalfi coast, & Capri
Venice was great as always..really hot and extremely overwhelmed by tourists in the main squares…but Venice is a labyrinth of streets, so quieter neighborhoods are never too far away.
The biennale art festival was dope af. I’ll make a separate post on that later.
Naples was beautiful..it gets a bad rep IMO. I’ve always heard it’s dirty, nothing to do, etc, but I found it to be like any other major city. Some rough spots but amazing food, plenty of culture and several of worlds most beautiful coastlines close by. I took day trips to Amalfi and Capri, which was an unexpected favorite.
I walked right up to a boat rental spot on Salerno with no reservation, rented a 20hp boat for the entire day $350 including fuel. I drove from Salerno down past Amalfi and called ahead to a mooring service in Positano who met us at their buoy. They brought us to shore..we hung out in Positano for a few hours, had lunch then they pulled up the boat when we were ready…have to admit, that felt like some once in a lifetime moment lol.
Capri is a beautiful mountainous island in the bay of Naples. Has dramatic limestone cliffs, grottos, etc. lots billionaire yachts hang off Capri’s coastline bc it’s so beautiful to look at. I spotted a few that have their own wiki pages lol.
