That’s a line from in the mouth of madness. Girl if you haven’t seen that, find a way to see it. It’s bugged the fukk out. Carpenter’s last really good movie with a good cast and the last in his “apocalypse trilogy” which started with the thing. Then prince of darkness, then into the mouth of madness. He made three movies about the end of the world and tied them all to some social issue or religious theme.
The thing is an alien but also about the rise of aids. Prince of darkness raises a single question: what if we could scientifically prove the devil was real? And the fallout that comes from the antichrist being an actual living scientific thing. And into the mouth of madness is all about fandom and how we as fans give authors way too much power and how their works can influence the real world in ways they shouldn’t

Watched the new version of 'The Thing' which was basically a pre-quel to the 80's John Carpenter flick. Not too bad. CGI was dope.
If you haven't watched it, I'd recommmend 'Upgrade'. Not technically a 'horror' movie, but it is rather unsettling philosophically.
Especially the end......
I tried to watch 'Mother'. Whoever recommends that movie should be hit in the face with a hot curling iron........

Damn - this is deep. This is one of the reasons that I f with this subforum, it takes a real horror fan to have an appreciation for other aspects of a horror film beyond the scare or gore factor. Interesting concepts. I've been missing out, will check out.
