@MartyMcFly do you think it’s too tacky or offensive or something? Just curious.
I thought it was that character, Corky - from that one show that used to come on in the 80s or 90s...lol. Not offensive to me

Latest horror I peeped, mainly because it was there on the firestick.

Incident in a ghostland
Incident In a Ghost Land (Ghostland)

Following her aunt's death, Colleen and her daughters inherit her house. However, during their first night in their new home, murderers enter the home, putting Colleen in a situation where she must fight to save her daughters' lives. When the girls suffer a terrible trauma during the night, their disparate personalities diverge even further. The eldest daughter, Beth, is said to become a famous horror author with a perfect family and life in Los Angeles, while her sister, Vera, can't cope and loses her mind faced with an unshakable sense of paranoia. Sixteen years later the daughters and mother reunite at the house where Colleen and Vera continue to reside. It is then that strange events begin to take place.

Honestly the influences of a few horror movies I loved were all involved in this but somehow it still fell a bit flat for me. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre feels were obvious pretty early along with an early bit that reminded me of High Tension. Where they veer on those though, is that they added a bit of ghost mystery to the whole ordeal. So you get a psychological horror where you're often disoriented or wondering what's legit and what isn't. That said...to pull off twists and surprises, you gotta let things sink in and this didn't pull that off. Most bits felt rushed and disoriented bit felt more like poor storytelling than an intended impact. The murderers were just not scary either. I like what the creators were going for tbh, but they needed to tell a more complete story and let things resonate. It's not the worst popcorn flick if you just want a quick, fairly intense experience. The opening scares are actually pretty good but the intro is where all the genuine potential stays imo.

That sounds like it would also be similar to Wolf Creek, combined with Ils (Them) - that French horror movie, with the added ghostly elements, that you stated.

Yes! Wolf Creek is pretty much the type of horror they went for but jumping into the tension even faster. I'll warn that Wolf Creek was a movie I really enjoyed, whereas Ghostland was one that I more or less appreciated the attempt but didn't like close to as much. I really think they had a great premise but rushed their payoffs. I haven't watched Them to compare, but after checking the trailer out I'm adding it to my horror list for checking out.
