The dystopian future stuff seemed tacked on because the writer's couldn't figure out an organic reason to have that family living in seclusion.Yeah, they had a pretty cool idea for taking The Shining to a Southern plantation-style home. I think that could have stood on its own without the dystopian future backdrop. Also, cosign on the casting; there was no chemistry between the cast. It's a really cool idea that kinda failed on execution imo.
Is it the 1981 Tobe Hooper Funhouse or the 2019 Funhouse?Bought a DVD set with the movie Funhouse and was disappointed to find out the disc was broken. I wanted to watch it. Is it worth a blind buy on blu? Or is it on tubi?
I want Wingard to take his cache as a big time director and make a sequel to The Guest. It is a franchise just waiting to happen.Crazy seeing the same guy who directed ‘You’re Next’, Adam Wingard, go from that to hitting it big with the Godzilla X Kong franchise today. These come-ups are always bittersweet to me. Because on one hand, it’s cool to see the success but I do hope he makes a return to horror someday, either through an entirely new project or sprinkling in some elements in the Monsterverse flicks.
Didn’t see anyone bring this up too: Derrickson and Cargill taking on that ‘Night of the Hunter’ adaptation will be a hefty ass task. Not sure how I feel about it, but I will be watching. Would be shocked if Hawke isn’t involved in some capacity, who seems to be their muse.
Warner Bros backing up the Brinks truck and letting David Robert Mitchell take on a big budget dino movie in IMAX, while still prioritizing that ‘It Follows’ sequel with Neon. Now that’s what I like to see.
A lot of that was due to the low budget the film had (I think they made it for like $500k) but I think a bigger budget and eschewing the found footage aspect would've probably made the film better even though I enjoyed it for what it was.Watched Afflicted last night. Different take on the vampire subgenre, but I really dislike the POV style. The last act was cool.
No.....
Just.....
No.....
It's so badly tacked on that I don't think it ever even explained why the wife was a "wanted" criminal with a bounty poster or who the "resistance" they were waiting to hear from was. Plus, they had futuristic drones flying around to scan the area, but also ham radios for communications. It was really odd.The dystopian future stuff seemed tacked on because the writer's couldn't figure out an organic reason to have that family living in seclusion.
They didn't really do anything of note with the idea so I was forgetting that they were even in a dystopian future at points.
The OG one. One person said not worth buying, you say yes.Is it the 1981 Tobe Hooper Funhouse or the 2019 Funhouse?
I would say yes for Hooper's movie and not to waste your time on the 2019 one. It was awful.
if you like typical 80's slasher horror, with a light message, its worth a buy, if you don't , then its a noBought a DVD set with the movie Funhouse and was disappointed to find out the disc was broken. I wanted to watch it. Is it worth a blind buy on blu? Or is it on tubi?
80s slashers are hit or miss for me. If anything, I’ll sit on it for some time. How’s the gore and violence? If they’re bloody an violent kills I’ll likely have more interest.if you like typical 80's slasher horror, with a light message, its worth a buy, if you don't , then its a no
80's horror is an acquired taste nowadays.
its a very underrated Hooper flick. the opening is an homage to the Halloween opening, then the fukkery starts
