Christopher Landon is scaring up a new project, his first since he departed Scream VIIlate last year. The filmmaker, known for Happy Death Day and Freaky, is in talks to to direct Big Bad, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

Lionsgate is in advanced negotiations to land the package that is based on the short story by Chandler Baker. The story centers on a family that must survive a night in an isolated farmhouse as werewolves prey upon them. The story”Big Bad” appeared in the horror collection Creature Feature, which included tales from authors such as Joe Hill.

About to watch ‘Skinamarink’. Praying I don’t fall asleep.

Well y’all, this put me to sleep faster than an ASMR video. Not sure if jumping back into this at 4:30am is a good idea, but I refuse to review a movie I haven’t finished yet and really wanna get this off my watchlist, so here goes…

And…done. Verdict?

Analog horror just isn’t for me and that’s okay. Media outlets tried gassing this bike up, but ‘Skinamarink’ seems to be divisive amongst the horror community, unsurprisingly. It’s something that seriously tests your patience because despite the eerie imagery, it doesn’t really get all that interesting until nearly an hour in.

I know the film wants to make it feel like one of those uncomfortable, childhood nightmares, but I can’t believe the director okayed the decision of leaving that cheap film grain in. It’s clearly used as a crutch to carry out ambiguity in the few creepy moments the project has, but it just doesn’t work for me overall. Think my reaction towards such wouldn’t be nearly as bad if this was a short film on YouTube as originally intended, but for a 90 minute runtime? This was overkill. Made me think of how unbearable it would’ve been had I actually watched it in the Alamo.
