Adding FunHouse taking Hellmaster off that list since it's on Tubi and we could use 90's horror and it sounds wild.

1. Trick r' Treat (Amazon Prime/Apple TV)
2. 30 Days of Night (Amazon Prime/Apple TV)
3. Let's Scare Jessica to Death (Paramount+/Amazon Prime/AppleTV)
4. Possessor (Hulu)
5. High Tension (Tubi/Amazon Prime)
6. Deep Red (Shudder/Vudu/Pluto/Plex)
7. *Choose your own*
8. Cannibal Holocaust (Shudder/Screambox on Amazon Prime)

the 20th anniversary of the TCM remake is the 10/17/2023
Can we make this #17 on the list

I have mentioned this before
I saw this tailer in theaters and it blew everyone away

this is how you remake a damned classic horror flick
from the trailer , the marketing, the actual movie :banderas:

this is probably one of the best horror flicks to come out in a long time

Great suggestion fam! This list needed a TCM and the 20th anniversary is perfect. I think the TCM remake has a case for best remake of the 00's, it kind of sparked the run of them. TCM 3D isn't bad either, though not as good.

I'm also adding Stagefright, which has one of my favorite Slashers. He sets traps like Jason, stages dead bodies like Michael Myers, and uses power tools including a chainsaw like Leatherface.

1. Trick r' Treat (Prime/Apple TV)
2. 30 Days of Night (Prime/Apple TV)
3. Let's Scare Jessica to Death (Paramount+/Prime/AppleTV)

10. Stagefright 1987 (Prime, Tubi, Pluto TV)

What Stage Fright are you talking about? The musical with Meat Loaf?

Nah, I don't know that musical. I'm talking about Stagefright the slasher from 1987. A group preparing for a musical get locked inside their rehearsal with a killer picking them off one by one. With this killer

Ah ok. The musical one I was talking about is actually good. Really surprised me. I’m not into musicals, but a slasher version caught my curiosity.

I've gotta add that to my personal watchlist. I like a horror-comedy musical called Anna and the Apocalypse (kinda like Shaun of the Dead meets Glee), so I'm curious.

Zombie one, right? The movie didn’t do much for me. I picked up the dvd at Dollar Tree and I think I donated it. If I didn’t keep it, maybe I’ll double dip if I ever see it there again.

It's nothing special, but it's solid for Christmas Horror which has a growing collection of movies but not a ton of standouts.

Speaking of similar titles. I stumbled on this joint called Barbarians on Hulu. It probably gets extra hidden because Barbarian was such a hit, but this is Barbarians plural.

A dinner party in a country house that sees four friends come together for a birthday celebration. But as the night progresses secrets emerge and unsettling events begin to unfold around them.

I enjoyed this joint. Two couples have helped put together a sort of commune, and they're on the verge of opening it for people to move in. But they've been keeping secrets from each other about the property, the business, and their personal lives. As the secrets come to the surface, more volatile elements get thrown into the mix, which leads to a chaotic but fun final act.

The performances are all pretty strong, and the chemistry (or lack thereof) between characters is really highlighted well. The dialogue-heavy parts have a healthy dose of foreboding that keeps it from feeling too slow. That's also helped by a short runtime, so we never linger on any one plot element long enough for it to get boring. That said, it also puts a bit of a lid on the ceiling here. There are some interesting elements that come and go too quickly to be fully realized. Everything gets wrapped up in the chaos.

Still, I'd give this a solid recommendation. It's worth a once-over, particularly if you like interpersonal drama in your horror/thrillers. Even if you don't enjoy it, it's a fast enough watch that you won't suffer for long. And I feel like this movie deserves to find its audience.

The summoned (2022)

Popped up on the plex share and gave it a spin

the wife thought it was going to be the Tubi version of Get Out when it started
but its actually a decent Indie thriller/horror flick

they put breh (and his hairline) through it in this one
