My reply from the official Halloween ends thread
did not feel like retyping it

just saw this

My wife liked it . ( but she has a psychology degree, go figure)
It was Meh to me, I honestly don't feel one way or another, not a bad movie , just not a good Halloween movie
I thought they added too much into one movie
basically the kids goes from normal kid, loner incel - potential school shooter, to master serial killer in 2 weeks

like they should have inserted the kids death in H2018
the bullying in H Kills
then the aftermath and the bridge stuff in HEnds
Instead of doing this all at once

I read somewhere they had the idea for 2 movies but had to wait until the first ones response to get the green light for the sequel
then when 2018 dropped and was successful, they asked them to do a trilogy and it fukked everything up and we got these last 2
so these were basically last minute revisions to the original plan

Plus lets not ignore the fact that :flabbynsick: Mike was every day of 65 in this , sixty fukkin five ( maybe older)
This was basically father time being undefeated Mike, something a lot of people don't wanna see
but some filmmakers go there with characters and the fans don't like it.
that adrenaline and azz whuppin' energy from the last 2 films woulda been worn off
nikka needed dat serial killer Viagra

so for the people that just absolutely hated it.
how bad is it to you?

H3 no Michael in it, pumpkin mask devouring kids faces bad???
H5 Michael needed the jailbreak assist bad???
H6 Michael being the the father/great uncle of Jamie's child bad???:scust: (its heavily implied)

H20 Michael with the timely mask switch right before the beheading bad???
Hres Busta Rhymes superkick Bad???
RZH2 wtf is the White horse in there for bad???

The Watcher - is this another Netflix horror series hit or miss??
:comeon:

Im highly intrigued by the first 20 minutes of this but because, you know, Netflix -USA this could go either way.
:comeon:
I’ll suspend any hope with Redbox Pt.2 Redo Blockbuster the Horror Franchise Killer aka Netflix
:unimpressed:

Just finished. The first 4 episodes were excellent. A lot of mystery. But the last 3 were just meh...The final episode was one of the worst I've seen in the past 5 years.

Haven't been as consistent with my horror watching this month as I would like to (though I did get started earlier than usual in September), but here is what I have watched so far.

Host
Us
Censor
A Town Full of Ghosts
Hell House LLC (rewatch)
Sator
Deadstream
As Above, So Below (rewatch)
The Poughkeepsie Tapes (rewatch)
You Won't Be Alone
The Phoenix Tapes '97
We Are Still Here
Creep (rewatch)
Where's Rose

Going to pick back up on rewatches. I normally try to make my Halloween Viewing Fest about half rewatches and half new to me stuff.

Art the Clown claimed the throne this year when it comes to slashers, IMO.

Terrifier 2 was a great watch and much better than the initial entry (which wasn’t that hard to do, but still). The thing that makes Art so interesting to me is that he’s quiet like a Jason/Michael, yet his quirks bring out his personality in a big way ala Freddy/Pennywise. Film dives a little into his backstory, but nothing outrageous enough to completely void his mystique.

They did a good job of balancing dark humor in the kills and some instances that just make you feel :merchant: . The humor was actually needed with how fukked up things got. Art is fukkin’ GIDDY from the set-up of his kills and through the execution of them. :dead:

The articles about test audiences puking/passing out due to the gore made me want to go see this even more. :wow: It has A LOT of gore, but I think I’m just desensitized to all of the horrid things I’ve seen at this point, lol. That being said, I’m still looking sideways at parents bringing their little ones into this.

And I guess you could chop off half an hour from this and still have it be effective, but the runtime wasn’t that much of an issue for me.

I dug it, but Allie’s death sticks out like a sore thumb as far as being the most brutal in the film. Can definitely see majority of the audience finding that one disturbing. :whoa:

This dude Art grabs the girl’s fingers and vertically tears her arm apart split down the middle from the hand to the shoulder. :damn:

Y’all ever notice how some of the most innocent characters in horror films tend to die in the most insensitive ways? Ain’t that a bytch… :skip: :to:

I can’t fault anyone for classifying this as torture porn, the lows definitely get low. I had plenty of fun with it though, especially seeing another horror flick make excellent usage of practical effects. Can’t wait to see what Leone got up his sleeve next.
