@Jello Biafra@MartyMcFly are y’all coming back for at least a few minutes to discuss Halloween Ends with us??
Those two made it to the big time as two media magnates and don’t have time for us no more
I’m going to do a tribute BEST OF Jello and Marty thread compilation for Halloween - best quotes, best comments, best clap back, - in feeling nostalgic
I totally get why Halloween Ends is divisive for many, but I still thought it was dope for what it was. Enjoyed it more than Kills. I don’t want the same thing over and over again. Not sure if it was intentional by the director, though I thought it was cool how each entry within this trilogy mirrors the nature of the first three Halloween films.
It has a lot of flaws though. There are definitely things I thought could’ve been executed better, like
how badly written Allyson is in this. We’ve been on a journey with her since 2018. I thought they did a poor job showcasing her growth here after dealing with so much trauma, and she also came off as super unlikeable for the most part.
Sometimes throughout it felt like the director forgot about what transpired in the previous two films. There’s a lot of angst within Haddonfield, which I found odd considering how much the residents came together in Kills. The “Boogeyman” is dormant. What happened to Deputy Hawkins’ characterization? Why was Lindsey brought back just to be cast away to the side? You’d think they would be utilized better in the closing chapter of this trilogy.
Pros:
The kill in the opening scene was well done, to the point where it was hard for any other scene to top. Great tone setter. The fact that it happened to a little kid significantly added to the shock for me.
The Season of the Witch parallel was dope, right down to the blue colored font used in the opening credits. Also kinda fits with how the film is its own little tale in a way.
During an effort to showcase how brutal Corey’s kills were, I dug the little nuances that let us know that he’s still not Michael Myers. Like how he hurried over after the DJ turned around and spotted him. Michael would never move like that. He moves in a composed manner even when the victim spots him. That’s honestly part of what makes him so damn spooky to me.
I actually liked the way they disposed of Michael’s body in this one. No possibility of a head fake-out like in H20. Though if this was real life, I’d be very concerned as to why it took three films for a town to figure this out.
The writing during these final two films though is way too incoherent for me to be comfortable with David Gordon Green handling an Exorcist sequel. Think I heard they’re planning on it being a trilogy as well…
On another note, I absolutely cannot wait to watch Terrifier 2. Been seeing folks lauding that as one of the best slashers they’ve seen in years. Might head to the Alamo sometime to catch it.

I been debating this too
but its only showing @ 7:00 pm and 10:40 pm at my closest Alamo
and I am like 45 minutes from it
that's like a 6 hour commit to watch Art the clown
In my younger days , I would be like, "hell yeah!!!!"
We need watch lists of current content and pending, steaming, theater releases, digital on demand, etc etc ASAP- I was working on that before my incarceration. I’ll post those up soon
