Was pleasantly surprised to see this on netflix :

3/4

It starts off extremely strong, meanders a tad in the middle, but it has a strong, somewhat surprising ending. It's a NUANCED surprise, not an in your face, Sixth Sense style thing. You need to be paying attention to what all the characters are saying and doing. Even then, it's pretty ambiguous and I'm still not absolutely certain of what was what.

Very strong visuals (As usual for South Korean films, I swear that country makes the best looking movies), strong performances, atmospheric and genuinely frightening in some scenes.

My biggest issue is that, because this is commenting so strongly on korean folklore and religion, I didn't pick up on some things until I researched the film after I watched it.

I'd definitely recommend though.

Another horror anthology on netflix.

I watched the first half sober and fell asleep.

Watched the second half weeded and thought it was kind of fun...:smugfavre:

Alright so there is some decent fukkery towards the end but I'm not sure if the destination is worth the drive. I really did watch this in somewhat equal halves and it truly does take like half the film before all of the stories are warmed up...about that...

This is yet another horror anthology, but unlike most of the other recent ones, this decides to jump back and forth between each story, as opposed to showing one complete short before moving onto the next the way most anthologies do it. This hurts it a lot imo, especially in the first half like I was saying. The pacing is all off. While it does make for a fun finale (You get to see how all the stories play out one after another), I would have preferred a more traditional edit. Unless you're *really* concerned about being somewhat seasonal, just track down Trick R Treat and watch that again.
I *do* like their version of Carol Of The Bells though....:manny:

It had some nice creepy moments but it seemed to suffer from a tiny budget and a tendency to meander (which is not cool when your running time is only 90something minutes). The ending was pretty blah too.

The chick they had playing Jane Doe had some nice titties though.:shaq:

On netflix...I thought this shyt was kinda intriguing.

Had that Paul Verhoeven Robocop/Starship Troopers action/satire/parody quality to it....but also a lot of REC. Most of the film takes place within a frame story of someone else watching television in their universe, the "show" Re-Kill is a Cops type of show, except instead of police officers, they send in a journalist and a cameraman to follow this paramilitary type of team that hunts the zombies. Honestly, the fake "commercials" that take place in between the actual Re-Kill segments are the best parts. The action scenes themselves are handheld and repetitive (Every encounter is pretty much the same. Sometimes a squad member dies, sometimes one doesn't, but it will go one of two ways, rinse and repeat.) but it's wrapped up in such a fun universe that it makes up for it. The squad members themselves are predictable tropes that you would expect, but they're performed well enough. They have a religious fundamentalist type in particular who is real fun.

If you can get past the shaky cam, this might be worth your while.
