James Wan To Produce A.I. Horror Film 'M3GAN' With 'Get Out' Star Allison Williams

By 2023 Allison Williams will be a bonafide scream queen. The star of Get Out and The Perfection will now headline and produce M3GAN alongside another icon of fright, James Wan. Deadline reports the A.I. infused horror movie now lands on Friday, Jan 13th 2023. Presumably yet another F13 without a Jason sighting. Sigh.

Universal Studios, Blumhouse, and Atomic Monster are teaming up for the tech-savvy thriller starring Allison Williams. This is only her fifth film credit to date, and her third prestige horror title. The stats are looking good, and we’re always happy to welcome Williams back into The Further.

Gerard Johnstone of Housebound fame directs M3GAN, the dark thriller written by the incredible Akela Cooper. Cooper is also responsible for writing Malignant, which Dread Central had on our best films of 2021 list. With Cooper and Johnstone on the creative end of things, our attention is inarguably piqued.

Deadline reports that M3GAN “follows Williams who plays Gemma, a brilliant roboticist at a toy company who uses artificial intelligence to develop, M3GAN, a life-like doll programmed to be a kid’s greatest companion and a parent’s greatest ally. After unexpectedly gaining custody of her orphaned niece, Gemma enlists the help of the M3GAN prototype – a decision that has unimaginable consequences.”
That M3GAN doll looks like an Olsen Twin:

VHS Franchise Monsters

Bloody Disgusting produced the first V/H/S film back in 2012 as a found footage horror anthology. Since then, the franchise has enjoyed three sequels, of which the second one was acclaimed critically. While the VHS franchise in itself is not groundbreaking, there are more than a few shorts that have made a name for themselves among horror fans simply because of the monsters they portrayed. Any good piece of the story is as good as its villain, and V/H/S has plenty of such villains up its sleeves. From the seductive succubus from folklore to killer cyborgs from the world of sci-fi, the anthologies have a little something for everyone. But the franchise’s most vital point is probably is that the various shorts have been directed by a bouquet of noted and acclaimed directors who specialize in action, horror, and sci-fi genres. So, without further ado, let’s explore the nine scariest monsters that appeared in the V/H/S films.

I started watching Hannibal recently and Jesus this show is great. Perfect casting too. It's almost like a family drama with lots of dead bodies and blood. They ever make another movie they should get the guy from this show.
Say less. :popcorn3: I'm in.
I really really realllllly needed something interesting to watch and I forgot about this in my lineup. I watched the first episode a long time ago but kept pushing it back over the past year or so for other content. These struggle movies/series that I've been putting on are not the wave.

and it's on Hulu - :blessed:bout to put it on while I work. Thx.

Also, CRUEL SUMMER on Hulu (via freeform) is also good. The twists and turns in this is crazy .... you know a show is good when I can't figure out who to empathize with - everyone in this is rude and disrespectful asf. I thought it was some campy TeenDisney or CW series with an RL Stine type mystery series - it is not. :deadmanny:
watched the first 5 eps already since Sunday. (disclaimer: there's a character in this series that they stuck in for the agenda token trope that I can't stand but other than that, the plot is on point).

"Candy"
A five night event, premiering May 9 on Hulu. Candy Montgomery is a 1980 housewife and mother who did everything right—good husband, two kids, nice house, even the careful planning and execution of transgressions—but when the pressure of conformity builds within her, her actions scream for just a bit of freedom. Until someone tells her to shush. With deadly results. Starring Jessica Biel, Melanie Lynskey, Timothy Simons, Pablo Schreiber, and Raúl Esparza. Three-time Emmy nominee Robin Veith (“Mad Men,” “The Act”) wrote the pilot script and will executive produce. Nick Antosca (“The Act,” “Brand New Cherry Flavor”) will serve as executive producer under his banner Eat the Cat along with Alex Hedlund. Jessica Biel and Michelle Purple (“The Sinner,” “Cruel Summer”) will serve as executive producers for Iron Ocean. Michael Uppendahl (“Fargo,” “American Crime Story: Impeachment”) directed the pilot and will executive produce.

The Outer Range on Amazon Prime isn't really horror, but it's a sci-fi mystery type with some wild twists and reveals so far (6 episodes in). It feels like a fully realized idea too, no mystery box BS. They give you some pretty clear indications that there are going to be answers to the biggest questions. My big fear for From is that it'll wind up with disappointing answers to the main questions like Lost did. I don't think Outer Range will have that problem. It's got a dark tone to it and enough mystery that I think some of the regulars could dig it.

Supposedly the cast would still be interested in coming back and now through intellectual properties moving around they might actually be able to include the Silence of the Lambs plot. I'd love that. Series was great...if you haven't seen Mindhunter, same creative minds and same vibes but with real-life serial killers.
