Selling my house and buying another lol. Just life shyt. I get tunnelvison when I got a big life change happening so I was purely focused on that.
as you should.
congrats on the house purchase!
good to have you back....

now that we know you’re doing alright - the implied cease fire is over. @Jello Biafra and I can go back to warring again -

I’m watching this. Took a mid week “mental health” couple days (*cough cough) off work bc I have an insane amount of unused vacation time- decided to start my spring cleaning and watch ish on my watchlist. (After I binge watched Queen of the South on Netflix) I saw your recc and put this on.

Right off top- this movie has me intrigued. Even the subtitles are scary and dark. ….”They died 5 days later”
:merchant::damn:
talk about quick escalation.
the choppiness of it all, fast paced scene switching reminds me of “The Poughkeepsie Tapes” - I’m interested to see how it all meshes in the conclusion.

I’m at the scene where there are dead birds being filmed on the ground; children are in the classroom drawing circles to test their telekinetic abilities being recorded like it’s a TV game show -
:dahell:

It's so crazy! I had to stop my watch-through short because of distractions, but I'm past the halfway point and the answers are taking shape but not a clear one yet. Some clips are straight-up creepy, but a few like that "psychic kids" one are just plain bizarre. It's definitely a good addition to my found footage collection though. For some reason stuff with birds always gets me...might be because Hitchcock was one of my early introductions to horror, but I don't remember ever finding the Birds scary.

Most have, some will probably check it out this weekend. The consensus is all positives so far.

You missed out on the Netflix Texas Chainsaw discussion though.
That franchise is dead to me, and shall never be spoken of again. Ever..like EVERRRRRR.
@MartyMcFly I waited four years for this and only for them to drop the worst TCM of all time.
The best part about this movie was the end scene as they were driving away.

The Devils is back on Shudder and everyone should take the time to watch it.

I was hype to see Shudder's new arrivals for the month. Not a lot that this thread hasn't seen before, but just GOOD movies. Session 9, Trick R Treat, Halloween 2 and 3, and a some Full Moon classics including the first three Puppet Master movies which I absolutely adore!

I still need to finish watching too.
That man with the tin foil hat, tin foil pants, tin foil coat living inside of his tin foil house though, talking about ectoplasmic worms causing the end of humanity - had me debating whether or not I want to continue to go down this rabbit hole of a movie
:mindblown::skip:
LOL at the host talking about "ummm... welll.. that's an interesting outfit that you have on there sir..."

Soooo what have I missed?

Welcome back, congrats on the move! I still scan the Shudder App for interesting pieces to load in before I hit the subway thanks to reading your pieces.

There's probably a gang of movies that are missing your takes at this point. X was epic, Jello and I mighta found the holy grail of horror everyone in thread hates (The Seed on Shudder), and there's a gang of throwbacks and slept on joints that I figure you might have takes about if you've seen em (The Stylist, Broadcast Signal Intrusion, and a late 00's gem from Australia called the Loved Ones mainly).

LMFAO! Fam, he's a recurring character and the only one that I have trouble taking seriously. I assume all his weird comments are gonna end up coming back as the movie goes on, because one of his predictions does lead to a pretty bizarre and creepy scene (he draws a map).

The best scenes are with the actress that went to the tree and flipped out. We get sleepwalking, sounds that need to be enhanced, and a bunch of warning signs. I'm ready to jump back in later off strength of wanting to know her fate.

I said it in the TCM thread, but I TRULY believe that what Ti West did with X is a much better show of reverence to the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre than anything after the Jessica Biel film at a minimum. X doesn't just have TCM inspired shots, but that felt like the most obvious inspiration to me...and Ti West did it JUSTICE.

I can not wait to see this tomorrow night. That's probably the boost that I need to get out of this slump that I've been in. I've been avoiding the commentary in here on X until I see it for myself. Prepare to get @'ed

I'm continuing to watch in order to see where the connections lead to.
I know this is not supposed to be horror-comedy but I think some parts are getting lost in translation. I busted out laughing when Tin Foil Man started spazzing and physically trying to beat up people that were asking him questions. :laff:Dude was dumb triggered. Im going to keep watching because I need to know the significance of this

What’s a shinto shrine?
:lupe:
in japan they have a special type of buddhism called shinto. they believe in putting their shrines out in nature and they require women called shrine maidens to take care of the shrines both physically and spiritually. their religious beliefs also include spirits that would live in nature and demons and ghosts. i think the demons might attack the shrine if it is not being taken care of properly.

this was the plot of an old japanese video game i used to play as a kid. she even has that zig zag paper tassle thing. you defeat and exercise demons out of other creatures
