I finished watching Under The Skin

I really don't know what to feel about this movie. I only read a synopsis before seeing the film and everything I saw in it was a surprise even ScarJo being all the way nude in the movie. I always thought she was like Jessica Alba and was against nudity in film. I don't think the movie was bad but I don't think it was good either.

I might have to try this again. I saw it when it first came out and it just had me like the whole time.
I'm a lot more open minded now when it comes to horror so maybe I'll feel different about it

Just got done rewatching X and man, I was too busy geeking out that I almost forgot how gorgeous some of the shots are in this film. A24 stays delivering on that end. My main complaint on the ending feeling rushed softened up after finding out this will be a trilogy, I definitely want to know more about Pearl’s background. Ti West is amazing at creating dread and this is still a really good movie even after a second showing.

I didn't realize it was going to be a trilogy. I knew about the Pearl prequel going in but wonder what the third film will be about?

Ti had talked about it on one of the cast interviews apparently. I’m gonna guess the third film will be stylistically different from both Pearl and X and cater to another sub-genre within horror.

Maybe have the film set in the 2000s and dive more into the psychological side of things this go-round?

Perhaps reflect on Maxine’s life later on where she isn’t so youthful and beautiful anymore like in 1979 and juxtapose that to her past encounter with Pearl. She seemed like a character that’s ripe to snap.

That would be a cool way to do something new while still sticking to the theme about aging and vanity from the other films.

I can relate to this show bc it’s more geared toward women with the “dating horror stories” “obsessed man” trope with disturbing psychological thrills slow burn. The backstory is very different which is why I’m watching though. But it’s an interesting concept nonetheless for anyone to watch.

With so much focus on the cultish religious leader that wound up being her dad, I could see that being a jump off point for her next destination. Even her affirmations were informed by that culty dude's speeches.
