“FROM” Episode 7- so those demon “things” can come inside, roam in packs and chase people now??
:merchant:
Let me find out the old man who they thought was spazzing has been constructing the blueprint and everyone ignored or wrote him off because they thought he was “crazy”. I’m glad that I didn’t give up on this bc of the “slowness” of the show - too bad they didn’t take out Trudy and that little Julie brat, she thought it was safe, she’ll be running back to mommy and daddy now with a different attitude.

I liked that they circled in some real CRT concepts (particularly one central tenet about using "colorblind" to mask a lack of self-awareness), and that the actual scares were genuinely well-done IMO. It also had a lot of moments about conformity and profiling that worked in the narrative. I'd put it like this, it didn't just use trauma-porn to replace scares, it had haunts with a bit of ambiguity about them. But it did touch on trauma from both a racial and campus perspective in more than one way. I just didn't think it was tasteless about it like some other joints have been. I did the whole university and grad school thing, worked at a uni for over a decade after, and a lot of this hit home or at least connected in a relative way to stuff I've seen over the years.

That said, I wouldn't blame people for seeing it as straight trauma porn. Especially because of a "ripped from headlines" twist that didn't land for me like I think it was supposed to...although it did completely catch me off-guard, so there's that.

It's clearly Get Out inspired. It's got critiques of university campuses, facades of woke culture, and white liberal power structures failing to address racism. But there's actual horror throughout and I felt like this really had something to say as opposed to a lot of the other Get Out inspired joints that center black-trauma but don't do or say anything else about it.

For a couple of the others I've been like "well I can see where they tried to get a message in there." With this one I was more like "okay, that's the message stated plainly and the narrative definitely supported it."
The smiling c00nette lady in the cafeteria scene.
:mjlol:
I’ve seen that happen too many times either in retail settings or business related, it is so cringe.

the suicide scene was it for me, made even worse by the Rachel Dolezal twist. I was with the movie until the first hour after that it was a hard left. Confusion.

So did the white Dolezal Professor kill Jasmine?? And make it look like suicide to stop her from getting in the way of her tenure? Who was actually hanging up the noose? Who set fire to the dorm? Was the professor behind all of the racist activity, the white students? or was there really a supernatural element? Or was it a combination of events

Yeah, that Dolezal twist was where I thought it started slipping up. I think that Dolezal character was really behind a bunch of the stuff as a way to get tenure, but I also think they set it in New England with that Salem connection to keep the supernatural aspect ambiguous. Like the scratches on the arm don't have any explanation besides maybe the girl doing it to herself while sleepwalking. But the noose and burning cross were Rachel Dolezal trying to lock up her tenure. Then it gets to be a question of who's ultimately to blame for the death...the harassing professor or the witch. But I think Regina Hall's speech at the end and her quitting gets at the idea that the root of the problem is an institution that will cover up suicides, rapes, and racism with a veneer of "inclusivity" rather than addressing any of it. As long as that shyt is around to provide cover, the curse will continue whether it's supernatural or not.

“As for Halloween Ends, Curtis was recently asked by Sirius XM's The Jess Cagle Show if she could share anything about the upcoming film. She said "I can't" over and over until finally giving a little teaser. "Here's my snippet: legacy," Curtis revealed. "That it really has to do with the nature of evil, and the legacy of evil."

Recently, Green revealed that Halloween Ends will acknowledge the pandemic.

"Yeah. It jumps into a contemporary timeline," Green told Uproxx. "So we go from two episodes that are the same night in 2018. And then we'll get up to speed with ... It'll take place the time of its release.....So if you think about it, I mean, where we're leaving these characters on Halloween 2018, the world is a different place. So not only do they have their immediate world affected by that trauma, having time to process that trauma – and that's a specific and immediate traumatic event in the community of Haddonfield. But then they also had a worldwide pandemic and peculiar politics and another million things that turned their world upside down."

I finished watching Under The Skin:wtf:

I really don't know what to feel about this movie. I only read a synopsis before seeing the film and everything I saw in it was a surprise even ScarJo being all the way nude in the movie. I always thought she was like Jessica Alba and was against nudity in film. I don't think the movie was bad but I don't think it was good either.

Final Destination was inspired by Flight 180 from the XFiles

The Final Destination Franchise Began as an X-Files Episode
The creator of the Final Destination franchise originally wrote the film as an X-Files episode before producers decided to turn the idea into a movie.

Released in 2000, Final Destination is a horror film about a group of people who narrowly avoid death after one of them has a premonition of their plane crashing, but fate cannot be avoided so easily, and Death comes for those who were meant to die in the crash. The film was a success and was followed by several sequels; however, the original concept behind Final Destination was not conceived as a feature film; it was written to be an episode of The X-Files.

There's not nearly enough come uppance, but there is a cathartic moment. It gets harsher as it goes. They're not subtle to begin with, but get aggressive as it goes.
The only good part of this was when those ancient CaC faculty pics become realized, and you realize nothing will ever change because generational supremacy reigns on:lupe::hamster::mjpls:

Last night's episode was good but it showed just how little I gave a damn about anyone living in the hippie house except for the slowful dude with the lunchbox.
The monsters could've wiped out everybody but Lunchbox and I would've been like :manny:.
