I'm just trying to see all my posts in this thread so I can compile all my review scores for films and add them to the OP. The search function only shows a handful of my posts for some reason

You want these in the OP or you just tossing em out there?

Im just tossing them out since you wanted to update. I haven't gone through all three of them, although I know I went through indiewire's list last halloween and its solid. Do with them what you will. The indiewire one may actually be worth its own thread

It Follows:ohmy: (even tho I didn't fully understand it), tho:ohhh:

...the cinematography, brooding score, tracking shots, and built-up tension:dame:

Felt like a 70s/early 80s Horror throwback:banderas:
Instant horror classic :lawd:

I didnt watch see it in theatres and I got in that eh it looked okay but the hype seems fakes kinda attitude.

Until I watched it and it blew me away :banderas:

seeing it in the theater is an experience breh. On the real, I'm a proponent of always seeing a horror flick in a theater first if you have the chance

What was the last great Family horror film?

Poltergeist, the original?

I need some help finding family horror films for a plot I would like to work on as a hobby.

@IronFist
@MartyMcFly
@porque
@dutchie
@Keyser Soze
@Prodigal Syndicate
@Box Cutta
@Jello Biafra
@Bruce Wayne
@Ebonic Plague

I didnt want to leave anyone out from this page, so I tag you all. And for some reason, I cant create a thread.

:feedme:
Definitely not family friendly horror movies. Just a horror film that involves a family, hopefully one that doesnt involve hauntings as i dont think people can relate enough to ghosts or demons to really be scared. I think the essence of a scary movie is to get people to question/be more cautious/weary with things in their normal lives based on the movie. Like some real unnerving shyt that people think could actually happen to them. I love horror films, but a new direction is order.

Well if Poltergeist is the standard, then @MartyMcFly already has you covered, as both The Conjuring and Insidious franchises are pretty much in the same vein as those movies.

I said this just a page or two back, and @Danie84 just brought it up again, but I personally consider Mama (2013) to be "the class" of the films in that vein. It's also a movie that can be recommended to you. It kind of combines that the formula of those Wan movies, but mixes in a little bit of the early-00's Asian horror influence. I think it's really well done, Chastain is really good as the lead.

There's also Sinister (2012) and Oculus (2013). Sinister is well put-together but kind of run-of-the-mill. I thought Oculus had an interesting gimmick and it used it pretty well.

Krampus (2015) - I initially overlooked this because of the Christmas elements, but it's actually a pretty creepy movie with some good atmospheric elements.

But you said you *don't* want Supernatural elements?

You're Next (2011) - Slasher film with some meta-humor. A lot of people were really high on it a few years ago.

We Are What We Are (2013) - On netflix right now. A family with a dark dirty secret.
