Went to range for first time yesterday. Took like a 30 minute class. Have never handled a gun before. I live in Texas now so might as well learn. It was cool until I actually had to shoot. I was crazy nervous and uptight as hell when I actually had to really pull trigger:mjlol:. I’m never confusing fireworks for gunshots ever again

Aim wasn’t bad for first time. Gonna go again next week. Going to buy a handgun. Not sure what to get. Researching on youtube. Definitely a weird gun subculture on youtube though. Used a Glock at range. Thinking about getting a Canik. Any recommendations? Just for home protection. 9mm

Tp9SFx is a nice gun. I like canik, good guns.

Is there anything like this for men @Wildin

Yeah. I just bought some shorts that I can supposedly run/jog/hoop in and keep the heat tight on my hip, no bouncing.

I run with my gun either on my hip or in my pocket...wore longer shorts one run and that shyt hit my knee....I thought "there has to be a better way...."

There's plenty of belly bands for appendix carry and torso carry. I don't rock that because....idk....I've never really liked it. I'll link up a belly band that's supposedly great for running/jogging.

Mine will be here when they get here. The price is too high and they even have them "marked down". I hate that they don't have zipper side pockets. We will see how they hold up. I may return them, they'll have to be really nice for me to keep'em. If anything they'll be another pair of workout shorts. We will see.

Depends on what you wanna do really.

I started off with one 9MM (an all-metal 941F) and before I knew it, I had 5 more pistols.

For less experienced shooters, I'd recommend shooting some more tings at the range before you buy one. Things like sweat retention/grip, recoil and follow-up, target acquisition, report, trigger pull (is it DA/SA, SA, DAO) can only be learned by shooting.

Also gonna depend on what your budget is and how often you're actually gonna shoot it. If you don't plan on shooting regularly, I'd actually get a shotty versus a 9MM HG for home defense. Are you gonna carry it or nah, and if so, what type(s) of carry?

Please realize that a lot of this is individualistic: I would never buy a Canik (:scust:) and am not necessarily sold on 9mm for home defense (:patrice:). I also don't like poly pistols (at all). :hhh: Your results may obviously vary. :skip:

Handguns are not one size fits all. Glocks feel like holding a brick to me while Sigs and CZ75s feel like they were custom made for my hands. For this reason you should rent different guns at the range to find what feels best in your hands.

Like others have said, try a few guns before you buy. You'll land on the right gun for your needs.
Two points of related advice:
1. If you have to use your gun in a defense situation, it will most likely be seized (maybe permanently) by the cops. Keep this in mind before you spend a ton of money on your first firearm. Always make sure you have at least one gun that you don't mind losing.
2. When it's time to buy ammo, try to avoid buying at the gun range. Ranges are notorious for price gouging. You can save a lot of money buy shopping online or buying at other gun stores.
3. Practice dry firing as often as possible.
4. Practice at the range as often as possible.
