Just put this in layaway, a SAR Arms B6P (a good CZ-75 clone at 1/2 the price):

Just bought my first one.

SMITH AND WESSON SD9VE STAINLESS / BLACK 9MM 4-INCH 16RD FIXED SIGHTS
http://grabagun.com/smith-wesson-sd9ve-9mm-16rd-4-dt-fs-2mags.html

Definitely think its a good first buy. I'll definitely be checking this thread for advice on my second purchase

Thanks all that have contributed and given advice

Glock sued Smith and Wesson over the SD9VE (Sigma), because it was to similar to the Glock 17.

Every SD gun S&W sells, they have to give a profit to Glock

Have you tested it out? This firearm is made out of polymer.

CZ-75 uses no polymer, CZ-75 & Sig p226 are the two best firearms of the market easily holds the #1 and #2 spot, so this SAR Arms might be a very good buy.

As of yet no Sig clones, would be interested in seeing the performance rating on those.

Haven't shot it yet. I've heard nothing but good things about it though, except that finding a holster/extra mags for it is difficult (only comes with 1 mag :to:)

Apparently Mec-Gar CZ-75B mags work for it, but I've heard conflicting accounts on whether that's true. OEM mags are about $35 and OEM holsters are about $75 :mindblown:

Ideally I'd like a total of three 17-round mags and a IWB holster.

You should try it, not sure how the polymer would impact its performance.

CZ-75 is easily the best firearm I've ever shot with the SIG a close second, and would be my first semi auto purchase, but I want to get the Smith & Wesson 686 first.

I'm planning on picking it up Wednesday and I'm heading to the range on Saturday, so I'll update you on how it performs.

Didn't have much to spend, but I wanted to get something cheap without going for a Diamondback or a Hi-Point.

I have to agree with you in regards to sigs. I have shot a 226 and a 220 stainless. Fantastic guns compared to the few that I have shot. I would like my next gun to be a sig but I think I will be saving up for an AR-15
