Because the premier conference is the SEC, especially with Texas and OU going next year. If he's successful at Colorado he'll get more than that 5 mil at an SEC school and he'll be able to compete against the best. And he wants to be in the South. But he's gonna stay with Shedeur as long as he can.

CU gonna move heaven and EARTH to make sure he stays. Not saying nobody else couldn’t make a Godfather offer but I think CU has the advantage even after Shadeur leaves because Travis can’t go
pro yet and if they have a winning season in year one then the transfer portal will become Prime’s muthafukking playhouse on some Pewee Herman shyt

He’s proving he doesn’t need the SEC. He’s made Colorado more popular.

If he can attract the same amount of 4 and 5 star recruits, and wins, he’s Gucci.

He will dominate the Big 12 every year.

I don’t see him leaving.

If the Longhorns come calling he'd have to consider taking that job. If Sark doesn't win the Big 12 this year, he probably getting fired. Hell, I wonder if Florida comes to him, if he would consider it?

But, I do agree Deion has a great thing going at CU. I'm sure all the 5 star QBs will be looking at Colorado now.

:dwillhuh: he’s Gucci if he attracts some 4/5 stars at Colorado? Are you kidding? Colorado is the warm up, this is just to show y’all what he’s capable of. I think it’s a matter of when not if he leaves for a major Power 5 job. Colorado gets 2 maybe 3 seasons of Prime

Cmon man lol. Its levels to collegiate athletics.
If you heard coach prime talk, he said multiple times a big reason he left was because of what his staff was being paid. He said some of them were only making 50k/yr.

They could have raised enough money to keep him happy and his team happy to build the program (but then the stories of them breaching his contract and not paying him would also need to be addressed).

No they couldn’t have breh. Them schools aren’t making money like that.

You really think if someone was to start a fund to keep Coach Prime at JSU the money wouldn't start pouring in :comeon:
no it wouldn't. there isn't a real culture of giving at HBCUs so why would it magically start when it's not even a one time thing. this would be about guaranteeing the salaries for the length of the contracts. then you would get in a situation where people are making the football staff feel bad because all the money the school is raising is going to them.

when SMU offered their no tv money deal to the ACC, Big 12 and Pac 12 in the spring they had donors worth $15b gathered in a room and one of them said $200m ain't shyt. they had to guarantee the ACC that they had the money available to forgo 9 years or tv revenue because the conference would still want them to actually be competitive and if you're at a financial disadvantage then you'll suck.

FCS schools can't realistically keep a wanted coaching staff, it just doesn't work like that. they're not raising $10m a year just for coaches.

Serious question: Do you really believe this?

HBCU coaches/staff are criminally underpaid with substandard facilities. JSU was always going to be a temporary situation

But he also said it wasn’t just about Jackson St. He said he builds up Jackson St. and then what? There was already resentment from other schools in the SWAC and it was only going to get worse.

At the end of the day, he showed Jackson St and the SWAC what was possible. He showed you can get top recruits. He showed you can get sponsorships. He showed you can generate way more revenue and negotiate better deals. It’s up to them to build from that.

But you got 11 other schools that weren’t on the same level. Grambling just lost to LSU 72-10. They still playing in these money game blowouts for peanuts, something Prime put a stop to when he first got there.

Even if he stayed, it would’ve taken 20 years to elevate the SWAC.

We have to stop making the mistake of thinking this could happen for many more people other than Prime.

He has the charisma to go to a place like Colorado that's been a doormat and bring players with him, but also get the white fanbase behind him as well.
Everybody cannot do this. This man might be the prototype for coaches in the NIL/transfer portal era.

If Eddie George (Tennessee State) is still taking money games and going to Notre Dame to get beat down, then we have to be realistic and say Deion is just different. That's not possible for everybody. Eddie George is well liked by people.

So these HBCUs have always had a hinderance in front of them. They have been purposefully underfunded to the point now that they are way behind the PWIs. They don't have all of the corporations and money people behind them like PWIs, so they can't compete on that level either.

The corporations followed Deion because he's always been a spokesperson in commercials for the past 30 years. They don't treat every black man like they do Deion. One thing about Prime is he's always been about making money and that's what these corporations are about 100%. So they fit well together. That man had fried chicken commercials during the Colorado game this past Saturday along with Aflac and Almonds, etc.

And top black players don't choose to go to HBCUs when they can go and have access at PWIs. We've seen this game long enough. Jackson State is right back to getting beat by these other SWAC teams the season after Deion left.

I'm glad they're winning but they wasted a lot of opportunities Saturday. That 1st loss will get them in gear :hubie: But I want them to take it as far as they can
