Yo, this thing turns on my TV when I cast to it. My TV isn't even a Smart TV

You can do this with files on your PC with the VideoStream extension in Google ChromeWhat I want to do is to be able to stream from Google Drive movies from an iPhone and a Android, to Chromecast. That's all I'm trying to do. I read that it is possible to do with the June update to Chromecast, by using the Google Plus app on your phone, going into your albums and choosing the Google Drive album that you shared to your plus account.
Have any of you done this before? Like with a 1080p movie for example? And what's the quality, is it steady or what?
I heard this one does it too but that's not what I want. https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/vget-extension-video-down/hniladkejehjfchadikcbjmgjaogciicYou can do this with files on your PC with the VideoStream extension in Google Chrome
It's an alternative, but you can use something like Splashtop that allows you to turn your Phone/Tablet screen into a monitor for your PC and you can select your files that way (using VideoStream)I heard this one does it too but that's not what I want. https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/vget-extension-video-down/hniladkejehjfchadikcbjmgjaogciic

it's pointless because they have to be on google+...who the hell has pictures on google plus?
lol how many times do I have to tell you that I'm not doing anything PC/Computer related. It's an alternative, but you can use something like Splashtop that allows you to turn your Phone/Tablet screen into a monitor for your PC and you can select your files that way (using VideoStream)
That's if you don't want to have to go into another room to stream your stuff to your TV and just want to do it from your phone
you actually store your rips in there?lol how many times do I have to tell you that I'm not doing anything PC/Computer related.
I am traveling, ain't pulling out the laptop for movies.
I was playing around with my iphone and I found out that I can stream google drive movies to my iPhone in 1080p to my HDTV through AppleTV. Framerate is good too.
I just wanna know what the frame rate is like on Chromecast. Cause I can't use Airplay on Android.
Someone told me that Chromecast only streams 720p from google drive without a hitch, but 1080p causes it to stutter.
how are these selling?
I've noticed a lot of commercials on TV for em lately
but one always has to fear with google abandoning support and coming with something else

bigger problem will be when they release an updated version of it
I ordered the Amazon version since I got the Prime $20 discount and I will probably be getting another Roku, which by the way has mobile casting, since my nieces and nephews have trouble navigating the HTPC
I still think the Chromecast is a great idea
I honestly don't see them releasing a chromecast 2 anytime soon, software updates can keep these goin for a while
