Sell chromecast or return it and pick up a firestick.

I got the Firestick

its pretty fast on the menus but some apps take a noticeable time to load

but the biggest problem Ive had is that's its crashed quite a few times, dunno how common that is but its pretty annoying

the mobile remote also sucks

but I do prefer it to a Chromecast since my movies and shows are on my pc

Google is giving out $6 in Google Play credits to US Chromecast owners

  • Make sure you’re connected to the same network as your Chromecast.
  • Open the Chromecast iOS/Android app
  • Tap your device, then find the “Check For Offers” button (it should be hiding behind the three-dot button in the upper-right)
  • Confirm your Chromecast serial number with Google
  • Tada!
You can also do this from your laptop at this link right here.

Chrome: Chrome makes it pretty easy to stream YouTube videos to your Chromecast. If you're watching a video on another site, that's a bit trickier. VidCast adds a bookmarklet to Chrome that lets you cast videos from the current browser window.

Casting web video is nothing new, of course. You could just cast the page with the video, but that includes the ads and extra stuff on the page. VidCast casts just the video to your screen.

VidCast does this without installing any extensions beyond the normal Google Cast extension. After you find a web page with a video, click the VidCast bookmarklet and press play. They'll show a brief ad for dabble.me on your Chromecast while the video loads.

Does the video lag when you cast this way?
