am i the only nerd who enjoys just turning the input to the chomrecast to check out the scrolling beautiful pictures?
also like that they recently added the time to the bottom right of the tv
its a nifty device and the pics were a pleasant surprise. people are downing it maybe because they expected it to do more than what it does. it is what is for what its worth. also, it has been on sale for as low as $25. like my parents dont have smart tv, ps3, or nothin. just samsung flat. chromecast is great in that situation.
you also have HBOGo for subscribers, but even better, Google Play (free cloud music) is there. I have about 7 cloud accounts with mixtapes, r&B, and one account has 20 thousand hip hop songs. so you can cast that back on your set as well.
sn: google play has Yeezus full album for free right now if anyone wants it for their collection.
i usually watch my hbogo and netflix in the room , but on my measly breaks and lunch i add stuff to "watch later" on youtube and when im winding down after work watch em on the big screen

finally broke down and paid for the chromecast feature in the Avia app and found out the hard way chromecast doesnt support AC3,Dolby Digital,or DTS audio 
99.9% of my rips have one of these 3 types of audio so basically i still cant stream any of my movie or tv rips to the chromecast

if you have Avia isnt Plex supported for free? it will transcode the audio on the fly

i already have 2 rokus(theyre in my daughters rooms)
i only copped the chromecast for my tv in the bedroom cause it isnt a smart tv but it pisses me off you have to pay to stream anything to it.The only thing free is youtube
and on top of that this shyt dont even support the most basic audio formats
im just gonna put this shyt on ice until plex makes the casting feature available to free users

only reason to get a Chromecast over a Roku is that its cheaper
you already know how useful a Roku is should have just gone that route
I got myself an HTPC and dont even worry about anything else although I still use Plex to stream movies from the other PC's
