From Chrome, press Control+o or just click File, then browse to the local file you want to use. This changed the game for me. Only downside is that the audio must be encoded with AC3.

I downloaded the Google Cast extension and upped this file from my computer (Evil Dead 2013 720p x264 AC3) but I get no picture and sound. Oh well it was worth a shot.

Did you open the file in the Chrome browser? If so do you see it playing on the browser?

I don't know what the problem was but its working flawlessly now. Time to watch The Wolverine blu ray on the 55 incher

Yeah, that feature alone makes it worth purchasing IMO.

HBOGo app for Android and iOS got updated to work with chromecast.

Someone check to see if Comcast blocks it like it does on the Roku.

i will say its 10x better than it was a few months ago as far as video quality..i got it in a differnt room than my router and before it took a second for the video quality to become crystal clear..now its crystal clear from the start.

but its still PATHETIC we cant stream shyt from our phone(pics songs videos) straight to it.. i can do that with my damn 360 and ps3 thru dlna.
