Both my sisters live over here, we live within 5 minutes of each other. It’s such a cute little hipster area, technically I live right on the border of cottswald.

I actually was looking at steel creek at one point, I was going to get a townhome in the ayersley area. But I just don’t like that area. I like Ballantyne—it reminds me of the area I grew up in when I was living in Chicago, suburban and nice, but it’s so out of the way and traffic there seems ridiculous.

Ayrsley area is pretty diverse, the Walmart is right across the street. For a 2 bedroom it's 1400 which isn't too crazy, the amenities are great as well.

Yeah that area was nice, but the rest of steel creek felt so dead to me. Compared to university city, concord mills and other areas, that have a lot more going on and a lot more to do, I just always feel like steel creek fell short. The rentals in that area also seemed overpriced compared to other suburban spots in Charlotte.

With Carowinds 10 minutes away , Southpark mall 15 minutes away , South Carolina gas 10 minutes away and downtown 15 minutes away it isn't too bad. That little spot behind arsley with a movie theater walking distance away is starting to get busy. To my surprise there is a majority of brehs and brehettes out here with a quiet environment. Arsley is in the cut but the word is spreading. I see this area becoming more popular in the future.

You’ve been around Uptown recently? They’re taking out a lot of the parking spots and replacing them with bike lanes..they need to upgrade the Lynx to get the fukk out to West and East Charlotte if they’re serious about this shyt..get tired of dealing with fukking traffic on Independence trying to get to Matthews.
It’s becoming difficult to find parking in the city smh…

also I drive up Monroe Rd to matthews as much as I can.

Good looks bro. My apartment in Plaza used to post local events in the elevator but I only took the elevator Friday/Saturday nights and missed so much lol. Missed Allen Stone & Gibbs & Benny at the Filmore. Benny is back in October if anyone is interested.

On the topic Charlotte areas. I rock with the North/University area, just seems to be more black people in that area. My cousins who have been here for like 10+ years settled in those areas as well. Can't do that commute to Uptown for work though.

Grammy award-winning singer Anthony Hamilton leads the entertainment lineup for Novant Health’s Welcome Back Fest series kicking off on July 24.

Charlotte will host the first of three summer festivals featuring live music, local food trucks and an opportunity to receive Covid-19 vaccinations. The free event runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Romare Bearden Park in uptown.

Also scheduled to perform is Ray Singleton, the Charlotte singer-songwriter currently competing on NBC’s “America’s Got Talent.” Organizers will honor “health care heroes” and mark the progress made in the fight against Covid-19.

Mecklenburg County is seeing an increase in Covid cases, particularly in young people. People under age 39 make up roughly 70% of new Covid cases, Health Director Gibbie Harris told reporters last week. She added that 25% of cases have occurred in people younger than age 20. Local health officials also confirmed cases of the highly contagious Delta variant in the area.

Most new cases of the virus have been among those who haven’t been vaccinated, so health officials encourage residents to get the widely available vaccine. The first 1,000 attendees at Saturday’s Welcome Back Fest with proof of vaccination are eligible to receive a $10 food voucher for use with participating food vendors.

The full music lineup includes:

  • Anthony Hamilton
  • Carson Hill
  • Dae-Lee
  • Groove 8
  • InfiniteSoul
  • Orquesta Sabrosalsa
  • Ray Singleton
  • Time Sawyer
  • Tropical Flavor Band
Participating food vendors include:

  • Ace of Spuds
  • International Truck of Tacos
  • J.K. Cones
  • Jive Turkey Legs
  • Jus’Taste Catering Food Truck
  • King of Fire
  • Maki Taco
  • Manolo’s Bakery
  • MarlieQ’s Caribbean Queen
  • Miss Johnnie Mae’s
  • Momo Truck
  • Rico’s Acai
  • Ruthie’s of Charlotte
  • Third Eye Coffee
  • Ve-go Food Truck

Following this weekend, the festival will take place in Wilmington on Aug. 7 and Winston-Salem on Aug. 21. Visit WelcomeBackFest2021.com for more information.
