Camp North End is an artsy section where a lot of black folks hang out. There’s always something going on there too. It’s an old warehouse that was turned into an arts area with shops and events.@Bryan Danielson @Call Me James
I’m coming down to Charlotte in August to try to get a everyday feel for the city.
I’m already looking for work down there. I just what to get the vibe of the city.
What spots should I hit to get the everyday feeling. What are some of the black middle class neighborhoods I can ride through? Good restaurants? Cool family spots?
I didn’t know that area was a black neighborhood.. now I want to go check it out.Plaza midwood is a good area to walk through. It's been gentrified, but you still have some of the old shops like house of Africa, mama's, Thomas street before night is about as comfortably mixed b/w as you'll find in the city. Plenty of good restaurants in that area as well.
And it's just a couple miles from NoDa that @Bryan Danielson was talking about and I actually second his call on NoDa.
If you're going to Mallard creek hitting up university isn't a bad look and the paddle should still be rocking.
If you have kids then definitely hit up Frankie's Fun park. It's close to that area, but solid.
On the other hand, freedom park is really nice. There's a lot of great homes new and old in that area and it's worth a walk/bike ride through. You can grab food at the Met on the way back and drive through Cherry a gentrified, but historically black neighborhood. And there's still black folk there.
As far as a lot of the black neighborhoods, it's probably not best to just cruise around if you aren't there for a purpose.
There's still mixed use low income housing there mixed in with the 900k homes.I didn’t know that area was a black neighborhood.. now I want to go check it out.
It's nice. My cousin is opening a shop up there.Camp North End looks interesting, never heard of it
