Great fight. Mad that it got spoiled for me but still enjoyed it regardless. Can't wait for Cotto/Canelo if Cotto handles his end of the deal.

Why do people think Canelo was tired :dahell: ? He didn't look tired at all to me. None of the tell-tale signs of fatigue. This shyt was a 3 round fight. It wasn't the Trout fight. He seemed like he was letting James punch because there wasn't anything on his punches and he was trying to catch him with a big counter while James was punching, which he did. Roy didn't think he was tired either.

I'm going to rewatch again, but I don't get the criticisms on his conditioning in THIS fight. He did exactly what he wanted to do.
Yeah I thought he was resting trying to make sure he didn't get into too much of a slugfest and tire hisself out.

Kirkland might be finished mentally and physically after this, I wanted the guy to win/thought he had a slight chance on blind faith and using the right plan, but that last punch was on some Drago/Apollo Creed ish, I thought he broke his neck at first.

I'm still not sold on Canello, even this versoin of Kirkland was able to put some work on him. If James had some defense things would have got interesting.

So did I.

After the earlier knockdown in that round I started wondering if the ref should stop it or if they should throw the towel.

Kirkland had some WOAT level defense last night but I applaud him trying to stay in it. Fought like a complete dumbass though.

Kirkland either needs a complete rehaul of his style of fight that will include taking much better measures to protect that egg shell attached to the bottom of his face that some refer to as his chin... or just retire before he winds up a vegetable.

Ain't no gravity suit gonna fix the type of chin problems he got :pachaha:

The post plus the name got me crying :laff::laff::laff:

Canelo with KO of the year. That shyt scared me. I thought we had the potential for Kirkland to seriously be hurt.

Canelo continues to look better and better. He is starting to start beginning his prime as a fighter.
I was leaning Canelo if he fought Cotto, now I definitely am. I don't think Cotto has the speed to really expose Canelo's biggest weakness and Canelo is starting to show he carries his weight well in the ring. He will be bigger and stronger than Cotto on fight night. And Canelo's power is underrated to me. He won't be the absolute hardest puncher, but he definitely has enough to hurt solid fighters.

GGG though...I still am riding with GGG. GGG has excellent offensive footwork and will be willing to go toe to toe. GGG has always thrown lots of punches and hasn't gassed; and carries his punches well into the later rounds. I just think he has too much for Canelo right now. Even though I am #GGGoodBoys and want the fight now, I think this fight is better served for 2016. Canelo could get that lineal strap from Cotto, GGG could possibly get a good win vs. Lee and as I said earlier, I think Canelo is just entering his prime. 2016 would put GGG and Canelo at their best.

However...ODH hasn't seemed to keen on jumping in with GGG (I have no doubt Canelo would take the fight). ODH has been quoted recently as saying GGG needs to prove more and it isn't in Canelo's financial interest to fight him until that changes.

his lack of defensive awareness was :mindblown: to me

not taking away from canelo..who landed nice punches and clearly took care of business (brutally too)...but some of this power punches were borderline telegraphed..canelo found the windows quick but kirkland should have also realized what windows he was opening while throwing some of his punches. it was really a pathetic showing

He didn't really have a game plan outside of putting pressure on Canelo. When he was in close he wasn't getting tagged nearly as much. JK stayed in the danger zone which was on the end of Canelo's punches & paid the price each time. You'd think he'd learn & kept it at as a phone booth fight where he was more successful.

This is Kirkland's style people. His defense is awful and his chin is not good but he has shown time and time again that he can take a beating and keep coming forward and the great majority of guys he faces cannot keep up with his pace or pressure. When he faces someone as skilled as Canelo, this will always be the result. Make no mistake about it, for all the hate he gets Canelo is very skilled, especially offensively. He throws excellent combinations, mixes it up to the body, switches between straights, hooks and uppercuts, etc. His weaknesses are his low work rate and questionable cardio. Also, he's not very good at cutting off the ring.

I'm saying... people forgot Canelo has 1 loss & that's to a freak of nature fighter... :heh:
