There's pros and cons with him getting involved with boxing
- The dissolution of sanctioning bodies and their multiple belts and handing out candy stripe belts because they feel like it and taking the fighters money to get some crappy belt I'm all for
- telling dudes they can't cross the street or the promoter getting in the way I'm tired of
- guy sitting on the shelf cuz they got money from their promoter and fighting once every 3 years I'm tired of
- fights taking 6 hours for four fights is ridiculous
- crappy undercards I'm tired of
- sanctioning bodies stripping fighters of belts and handing it to someone undeserving I'm tired of.
- everybody taking the Floyd Mayweather approach and thinking they're the A-side I'm tired of
The negative to it is if he treats this like you UFC it could have a severe down effect on the fighters purses. I think Turki could keep that from happening.
There's a strong likelihood they're going to muscle out every other promoter eventually and it's all going to be rolling under him. He may sign them to erroneous deals with all sorts of clauses in it that keep people from leaving.
I seriously doubt he's going to let people do one-off fight so they can go somewhere else and stay free agents their entire career
At some point he's going to start strong arming people to signing deals that they don't like or want to because they're the only player in the game.
My hope is that the big promoters start playing nicer together by default so they don't get swallowed whole. It should also make fighters more active because they have other options or the money will be so lucrative it'll get them off their asses.
I don't care if you're a fan of Golden Boy, Top Rank, Matchroom, Queensberry all their foolishness over the years allowed this to happen.
It even spilled over to the fans of that nonsense because then they tell guys that they had no reason to go fight somebody on another platform.
I personally just hope that Turki can keep Dana's worst impulses at bay. Aka trashing fighters, getting mad that they want to be paid and compensated their worth or just not listening to him.
I'll tell you right now boxers ain't going to put up with him trashing them like them UFC fighters do. They've had too much established of a business model to not tolerate somebody strong arming them particularly in the last 30 years.
Fighters have their own sponsors, promotions, LLC's and Dana saying you can't do that ain't fukkin happening
There's a reason why he never set up a boxing league directly just like the UFC operated. He needed the pockets of someone else to pay fighters because there's just no way that was a duplicated business model that could work.
There will not be a single boxing champion under that league that's stepping in the ring for less than 15-20million dollars no matter what he says. Even your Tank or Devin level dude ain't taking 500,000- 1mm. Ain't happening.
Even though he's washed Anthony Joshua wouldn't sign that shyt he still sells out football stadiums
They will stay exactly where they are until the lights go off before they'll sign with him
If it can just be UFC level production and reach with the pockets to pay the guys it's a win-win
He rolled with wbc and wba largelyHe won a version of every belt but the WBC is the only one he paid I think.
Good post with a lot of things I agree with but I never know what yall mean by this “UFClevel of production”, to me that shyt looked just like a boxing card in terms of presentation with the little skits of shoulder programming and the tapking heads who are often (just like in boxing don’t) seem to be the best people to be thereIf it can just be UFC level production and reach with the pockets to pay the guys it's a win-win
I swear in that fight Tyson hit him with a elbow and some teeth went flyingMitch Blood Green too lol
Everytime Tyson hit him, his hair would fly back like that Soul Glow commercial in Coming To America![]()

Showtime and HBO were the gold standard. DAZN is absolute ass, ESPN and Amazon and Netflix are about evenGood post with a lot of things I agree with but I never know what yall mean by this “UFClevel of production”, to me that shyt looked just like a boxing card in terms of presentation with the little skits of shoulder programming and the tapking heads who are often (just like in boxing don’t) seem to be the best people to be there
But seriously it didn’t look any more impressive to me than the production of your average Showtime card. Showtime boxing and HBO had the best productions imo, they are both no longer but we’ve seen good production in boxing
Great points. If anyone is familiar with my posting you know I hate having all these belts. It has watered the sport down so bad. I grew up when it was only WBA and WBC. I remember the inaugural IBF fights. Then you had to have those 3 to be undisputed. I remember inaugural WBO fights. WBO was a worthless belt that was used to legitimize fighters outside of the U.S.
All these belts have been involved in corruption at some point. Out of all of them the WBC has been the most solid and their hands aren’t clean either.
I often refer to fighters as belt holders or titlelists not champions. I do get why these belts were created and it allowed some fighters to make more money but at the same time froze others out. There should only be one champion and that really will tell who the best fighters truly are. It’s a marketing thing I get it but it really has ruined the sport as far as the best fights are concerned.
Mandos are rarely upheld now. A fighter can literally cherry pick belts. You can become a multi division multi time champion without fighting the best fighters. It’s hard to get fighters to unify because there are no mandates.
Sanctioning bodies getting rich for doing nothing. One thing I admire about Floyd is he didn’t care about this shyt and stayed loyal to the WBC. He won a version of every belt but the WBC is the only one he paid I think. I remember when the IBF corruptly sanctioned the Judah fight even though Zab lost to Baldimir which was a clear violation of their own rules!
Let’s not talk about the WBA who at one time had a Super Champion, Regular Champion, and Interim Champion. The WBC had champion emeritus, champion in recess, Diamond belt, Silver belt, interim title. Smh
I remember when there were talks of PBC tryna do their own thing which would almost remove them from having to answer to any of the sanctions. When that Zab Judah situation happened I knew all bets were off and it meant absolutely nothing.
I'll do anything to get rid of these sanctioning bodies. In that regard they are absolutely on borrowed time
Zab really fukked up shyt losing to Baldomir like he didWhen that Zab Judah situation happened I knew all bets were off and it meant absolutely nothing.
Zab really fukked up shyt losing to Baldomir like he did. Dude dropped the ball several times in his career but this was the biggest and worst blunder
Baldomir was like i only have enough money for one belt and he picked the WBC...WBA upgraded Luis Collazo..the IBF letting Zab keep the belt due to possibly not missing out on the sanctioning fee money from the upcoming Floyd superfight was horseshyt then and horseshyt now. shyt there should not have been a Floyd fight period. Dude should have ran it back with Baldomir like he did with Cory Spinks but got hit with that suspension for the low blow melee. Then we eventually got Floyd vs Baldomir which was one of the worst PPV fights ever..even for Floyd who was crying about his hand and shyt afterwards
