Carl Frampton: This is a Completely Fresh Start For Me - Boxing News

Carl Frampton: This is a Completely Fresh Start For Me

It's just under two weeks until the return of the Jackal to the ring, when Carl Frampton (23-1, 14 KOs) will headline what he believes will be the biggest show Ireland has ever hosted.

The Belfast fighter went from becoming Northern Ireland's first two weight world champion, to falling out of love with boxing within the space of a year.

In January, Frampton lost his WBA featherweight title with a twelve round decision loss to Leo Santa Cruz at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Then he was scheduled to fight Andres Guttierez in July, but the contest was canceled with less than 24 hours before fight time - after Guttierez slipped in the shower after the weigh-in and suffered numerous injuries.

carl-frampton%20(16)_1.jpg

In the last few months, Frampton has changed everything about his career. He parted ways with longtime promoter/manager Barry McGuigan. He parted ways with trainer Shane McGuigan.

Frampton then signed a promotional deal with Frank Warren, hired new managers and retained Jamie Moore as his new trainer.

He now returns on November 18th against Horacio Garcia at the SSE Arena in Belfast.

Frampton says he's hoping the end a tough 2017 on a high. He feels very confident with many changes that he's made in his career in the last few months.

He said: "This year has been a terrible year, 2017, considering 2016 was the best year of my professional career. So this is a completely fresh start. A lot of things have changed recently for me but I'm feeling good for it, I want to put that all behind me and finish on a win."

Frampton is still being advised by boxing powerbroker Al Haymon - who also advises other top featherweights like Lee Selby, Gary Russell Jr., Abner Mares, Santa Cruz, Jesus Cueller and several others. Warren also works with Selby and featherweight contender Josh Warrington.

This dude is mentally weak :dame:

Take a loss then loses passion for the sport, kicks everybody out of his team and even signs to new promoter...

It wasn’t even some humiliating loss or a life changing KO. It was a clear but still competetive fight not something what should done a fighter mentally.

Porter believes that Spence is one of the top fighters at 147 pounds but wants revenge against Keith Thurman and a showdown against the more known Danny Garcia before taking on the former US Olympian.

"He made a lot of noise. A lot of noise. He earned the belt. I knew he was gonna win the belt even before he went over there and took it. I think he is one of the best fighters in the welterweight division - but I have my eyes set on Keith Thurman and Danny Garcia. These are the guys I grew up watching, competing against and so forth. Now is my time to get back in there with Keith and get that loss diminished and then go after Danny Garcia again," Porter explained.

One thing he wants everyone to know is that he isn't ducking Spence. He said that it isn't a matter of if he will fight him but rather it is a matter of when.

"That fight will happen. Everyone wants to know when but I can't give you a timeline," he explained.

Porter feels that if Spence has a couple of successful title defenses first, it will only make their fight bigger once they both line up against each other in the square circle.

"Every time we fight and win then we win fans. So the only thing he is going to do by beating Lamont Peterson is win fans and continue up his ladder. Lamont Peterson is not an easy rollover. Actually I am thinking it will be an interesting fight. I am very interested to see how that fight is gonna play out but we know that Errol Spence is the champion and he is a young hungry fighter and has proven that he is a winner so he will keep climbing and I will get some things out of the way and then we will duke it out," Porter told BoxingScene.com.

Damn....Porter stays with a perm :whoa: when it comes to P4PSpence:heh:

I see why he ducked Rigo now. He would have gotten the Donaire treatment and would have REALLY been washed mentally

Anthony Joshua bites back, sends out firm A-side warnings to Deontay Wilder and Joseph Parker WBN

Anthony Joshua has finally responded to recent call-outs by fellow-champions Deontay Wilder and Joseph Parker.

Following the WBA, IBF and IBO title holder's victory over Carlos Takam, in which 'AJ' was taken to 10 rounds for only the second time in his career, Wilder, Parker and even Tyson Fury have been scrambling to secure a massive paycheck against the number one heavyweight.

A few days of silence on the back of Wilder battering Bermane Stiverne in one round have brought a response from Joshua on the day Parker held a press conference to officially declare his unification intentions.

"If Wilder's not making an offer we'll do it on my terms. Present him with an offer, and see how they feel about that offer," Joshua told AP.

"That only goes to the champions: Deontay Wilder and Joseph Parker. It's the same situation to both of them.

"It's no problem if Wilder wants to fight early next year, but no offers have been made to me. There has never been an offer. Everyone says they want to fight, and then sits back and waits for me to do all the homework.

"What we then have to do - which Eddie's doing - is fly out to the United States to make time.

"No offers have been made from their or our side; we had a mandatory in place, and now we're taking the time and effort to get the ball rolling.

"There's one thing talking and acting, but negotiations don't happen over social media. We're now making the moves forward."

On his future ambitions, Joshua added: "I'm serious about becoming undisputed heavyweight champion of the world. We're just making sure that a lot of these guys who are making noise will back up what they're saying."

Wilder and Parker are both hoping to land 50-50, if not close to equal purses for the contest, although judging by Joshua and promoter Eddie Hearn's media responses either are unlikely to get anywhere near that for a UK Pay-Per-View blockbuster.

Despite holding recognized belts, Wilder and Parker would be looked upon as the B-Side of any Joshua battle held on British shores.

So, since when does the B-Side makes the offer and dictate the terms to the A-Side?:patrice:

Is the type of game Joshua is about to play? Like we don't know that the A-Side is the one who issues the terms, contract, and the B-Side is the one who either agrees or kicks rocks:jbhmm:

he´s right, out of the two not Joshua is the one who´s crying all over social media to make the fight NEXT, it´s Wilder, Joshua doesn´t care so much if it´s next or the summer, he basically just wants all the belts by the end of next year, it´s Wilder out of the two who desperately wants this to happen in March/April already. So if he really wants to face Joshua next spring already and it´s not good later why not make an offer?

You should never be a GRJ fan. Dude isn’t that good period. nikka Make ABout getting his ass whooped a all time great.

We've all seen him fight...and he's not basic. He's not elite, but he's not basic either. Especially in compairison to Indoungo, who yall Champion without ever seeing him win a fight on American soil:heh:

And by the way, you've backed your way into being the "go to guy" for when Indougo proves how weak he really is for the rest of his career:sas1: Because Ima definitely make sure I tag you when Im talking down on him in the future:sas2:

I cant believe yall fell for the "Charles Manyuchi of 2017" hype:snoop:

ANTHONY JOSHUA RESPONDS TO DEONTAY WILDER: "I'VE NEVER BEEN IN THE BUSINESS OF DUCKING...I'M NOT AFRAID OF NO ONE"
By Ben Thompson | November 08, 2017

db8IhBB.gif

"I fought for a world title in my 15th or 16th fight, so that tells you where I'm at...I don't just say what I say to please people. I mean what I say," stated undefeated unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua, who recently did an interview with iFL TV to respond to recent comments made by fellow undefeated heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder.

During the build-up to and in the aftermath following his devastating 1st round knockout of mandatory challenger Bermane Stiverne, Wilder has put the full court press on Joshua, demanding that the two meet for a unification showdown in their next bout. Although it took some time for Joshau to respond, he's finally broken his silence and addressed the possibility of facing Wilder in the near future. Check out some of the highlights from Joshua's interview.

ANTHONY JOSHUA ON FACING DEONTAY WILDER NEXT:

"I don't do my negotiations in public. I don't do business in public. We had a meeting. I said, 'So are there any offers that I have came your way because Wilder seems to say that I'm ducking him and that he's really interested in fighting me.' There's not been any offers that say, 'Anthony, look, we've got this venue for on this date. We've got this broadcaster and that broadcaster and this broadcaster interested in taking the fight and these are the terms and conditions of the fight.' I haven't had anything like that, so I said, no problem. So it seems to me that there's interest, but it's not serious interst, so what we've decided to do is Eddie's going to America obviously for the Danny Jacobs fight and he's contacting the champions that are interested in fighting and I'll have to kind of put my foot forward and start making the offers and trying to secure a fight with the likes of Deontay Wilder or Joseph Parker."

"If it's about values, we look at what their value is and let's say we double what their value is to fight me. I don't see why they won't step up to the plate and challenge, but like you hear like Joseph Parker say, 'Oh, they offered 20% of the pot,' and it's like, 'Well, I'm not happy with that. I'm not fighting him for 20%,' and it's like why are you trying to sell yourself to fight. Are you trying to sell your belt? Some people contradict what they're saying. I do feel like people are now saying, 'Well, we want to fight. We want to fight.' And I'm saying well let me see the offer and what you're willing to put on the table and how we can negotiate and kind of organize this fight to happen, but I don't see it. Who are these peoples managers and who are their promoters? Who do I talk to to kind of find out what their offers are to make these fights happen, and that's what I'm interested in. If you can kind of match what I'm doing or beat what I'm doing, I have intersest, but if not, if I can match or beat what you're doing, what's the hold up? What are you waiting for?"

"So as I said, and I'll go back to what I said, is that are they looking to sell themselves and sell their titles, and if that's not the case, sooner or later we'll have some word on what's happening because Eddie's gone out to the States, I spoke with my managerial team on what my decisions will be, and I'm more than willing to fight. And as I said, I'm not in the business of waiting or ducking anyone. To a lot of the boxing purists, they know I've been taking challenges from like early on in my career. Even as an amateur they know that. And for the new faces of boxing who are coming in to watch the sport, look at the records of these fighters calling me out and they'll see I've never been in the business of ducking anyone. That's why I can talk freely to you about how I'm going to make moves about these challenges because I'm not afraid of no one."

"I'm not aware of myself being involved in the deal with Dillian Whyte being involved in the deal with Dillian Whyte getting to fight for the WBC. Dillian Whyte is one of my rivals, he's not one of my business partners, so any business relations we have happens with fists, not in the negotiating room, so when it comes to myself competing with Deontay Wilder, this is a meeting I've had with my team today and we've found a way to kind of make these things happens. Because as I've said, Deontay Wilder has called me out after his fight, as you said, with Stiverne, which I didn't expect because I haven't seen no contract or no offer in place, so now I've had to take it upon myself, you know, on my time off to get on my team and make plans to travel to America to discuss negotiations so I can become undisputed heavyweight champion of the world, and that's the way business is done."

AJ and Hearn were pretty clear it would be Parker > Wilder > Fury for 2018 in that order . . If Wilder really wants it, he can get it . . but 50/50 :mjlol: Bumsquad realistically should get more like 80/20 weighted to A-side AJ

This feels like bumsquad is feeling his body is creaking and looking to cash out asap . . crying for that AJ handout :dame: :scust:

And this is exactly what I mean....the man said he was never offered anything or ever had discussions about any fight for Wilder, but yet you're believing Wilder wants a 50/50 split? How? He's never said anything about the purse and they've never discussed any purse:mjlol:
