Dan Rafael chat wrap 11/3:

- Glad to see Arias get the Jacobs fight because Roc Nation has done a terrible job promoting him. He deserves to be the underdog, but has an outside chance at an upset.
-,Ponomarev vs. Ocampo is an interesting fight. Ponomarev doesn't do anything great, but he is solid and Ocampo comes to fight. Not a strong opinion on who wins, but leaning Ocampo since it is in Mexico.
- If Joshua and Wilder fight it could be considered the lineal title. If Fury ever comes back he also has a claim.
- Caleb Plant is a good fighter and a nice guy. One of the PBC guys who isn't getting to fight as much as he wants to.
- Quigley is supposed to be on the Cotto-Ali undercard.
- Thought Vargas got a gift vs. Winky Wright and has no other major wins except Ike Quartey who was coming off a long layoff and moving up in weight.
- Agrees that we may not know how good Wilder is because his competition hasn't been the best (outside of Stiverne), but it isn't his fault because Povetkin and Ortiz failed drug tests.
- Stiverne's only real chance if a clean punch lands on the chin. Picking Wilder by crushing KO.
- Bad final eliminator in Breazeale vs. Molina. Don't worry about it too much because if Wilder wins, he won't have to face one of them for the next year plus if he wants to.
- Dusty Hernandez Harrison hasn't fought because he had a gun charge and spent a little time in jail as well as Roc Nation not promoting him well.
- Fights he is disappointed never happened? Lewis-Bowe, Oscar-Tito II, or Tyson-Holyfield when it was supposed to happen. More recently maybe Juanma-Gamboa or Bradley-Khan when they were both at the top at 140.
- If Ancanjas is on top of his game he should stop Conlan.
- Lara vs. Castano? Completely uninteresting mandatory.
- Doubts Wilder could become Joshua's mandatory since the WBA doesn't operate like that.
- Could see Joshua or Wilder winning if they fought. Joshua has a lot of flaws as well.
- Boxing is no longer Pacquiao's main focus. His career is basically over and that is okay.
- Smith vs. Vargas? A waste of HBO's money.
- Agrees with Errol Spence in that not signing with a promoter allows him to stay away from their politics, but for him to really raise his profile and make big money he will need to sign with a promoter.
- Salido vs. Roman should be an interesting action fight, but it is weird as a main event with such meh undercards.
- Hearing Spence vs. Peterson likely will be at Barclay's.
- Believes Bivol vs. Barrera is HBO's plan for next year. Would be a good fight and would pick Bivol based on his youth and skills.
- Murata vs. N'Dam averaged more than 200k viewers. ESPN and TR were very happy with the ratings as in relation to that time slot it did very well.
- Disappointed JMM vs. Morales never happened.
- Charlo is a mandatory for GGG, but if GGG makes a Canelo rematch that fight would be a long ways off. Likely we see Charlo back in early 2018 for a stay busy fight.
- Would be down with Charlo fighting Andy Lee.
- Luis Ortiz is tainted and likely will never get the big fight.
- Dirrell and Uzcategui are reportedly negotiating their rematch.
- Paul Williams for the HOF? He was a very good fighter in his prime, but not quite a HOF'er.
- Wladimir vs. Vitali? Vitali.
- Very skeptical Spence vs. Thurman happens in 2018, but hopes he is wrong.
- After Gassiev's win over Wlodarczyk, Richard Schaefer said there was a chance the fight with Dorticos could be in Miami, but it could also go to Russia. Usyk-Breidis is almost certainly going to be in Europe.
- Garcia vs. Linares? Garcia.
- Porter vs. Granados? Fun fight that Porter wins.
- Ryan Garcia has a bright future.
- Picking Breazeale to beat Molina.
- Pierre Benoist 119-110 scorecard for Willaims vs Martinez I was horrendous. Judge Roger Woods had Jesus Soto Karass winning 67-66 last night in the ESPN main event when Abreu dominated the fight.
- Kell Brook says he will be back in action the first quarter of next year.
- Scott Quigg can hang with the top featherweights. Can he win? Not so sure.
- Miller vs. Wach interest level and winner? Interest 6/10, picking Miller.
- It is possible Canelo fights the Lemieux-BJS winner in May and puts off the GGG rematch until September.
- If Joshua and Wilder fight, there still are good fights to be made in the HW division. If Haye can beat Whyte, a Joshua-Haye fight is huge in the UK. Fury vs. either guy and CW tournament winner moving up would all be interesting fights.
- Why does he think Wilder could knock Joshua out if Wlad couldn't? Wilder may or may not hit harder than Wlad, but Wlad couldn't follow up when Joshua was hurt, Wilder would.
- Wouldn't mind seeing Joshua or Wilder face Whyte. It isn't totally necessary, but nothing wrong with it.
- Not sure what Danny Garcia has been up to. Nothing wrong with whatever he has been doing to take a break seeing as how dramatically overpaid he has been the last several years.
- Would like to see Chocolatito retire, but if he comes back 112 is better for him, 115 has the bigger business.
- Crawford would play with Horn and win easily.
- HBO is looking to do Superfly II in February. Could include the Sor Rungvisai-Estrada mandatory, perhaps Yafai vs. Gonzalez.
- Arum would like to make Jennings vs. Parker. Could happen in the first half of 2018.
- Thoughts on Lipinets? Solid fighter, but would like to see him vs. a legit opponent.
- Jack vs. Stevenson? Good fight, but would like to see Stevenson honor his mandatory first. Alvarez deserves a shot and it is long overdue.
- What is next for Easter? There has been discussion for Garcia, but that isn't a given as Garcia is discussing with GB for Linares in January.
- Best fighters to never win a title? First ones that come to mind are David Tua and Oba Carr.
- Voted Calderon for the HOF. Calderon was dominant for years. He barely lost rounds and fought basically all the top small guys of his time. He was maybe the best pure boxer he ever covered. He had zero power and was almost always smaller than his opponent and usually won 12-0.
- Bigger hometown draw: Crawford or Wilder? Crawford's crowds are a bit bigger, but Wilder draws very well.

hmmm his opinion..i thought vargas beat winky :manny:

pretty much and the nikka weighed in at 254...shyt will go like the first fight for sure

- Paul Williams for the HOF? He was a very good fighter in his prime, but not quite a HOF'er.
the punisher is the GOAT Volume puncher but yeah no HOF for him...a couple more years with some more quality wins would have solidified for him

- Pierre Benoist 119-110 scorecard for Willaims vs Martinez I was horrendous
that it was..it took away from a classic classic fight

- Picking Breazeale to beat Molina.

- Kell Brook says he will be back in action the first quarter of next year.

- Would like to see Chocolatito retire, but if he comes back 112 is better for him, 115 has the bigger business
agreed..but 115 will finish him if he continues there

- Thoughts on Lipinets? Solid fighter, but would like to see him vs. a legit opponent.
he is still a question mark based off that fight he had in back in december

- Best fighters to never win a title? First ones that come to mind are David Tua and Oba Carr.
good choices

I had just really gotten into boxing a bit before that and enjoyed watching both guys. I had Winky winning and I will remember it because that was the first fight I had watched that I felt like the more marketable fighter got the undeserved win.

A lot of people have different opinions on this fight.

This Ryan Garcia kid...is he legit or what? I saw the 30 sec knockout against the FLUFF guy and the 3 round KO from this week. So what's the deal?

WAS going to ask about him dude has legit put several dudes lights out.
Very quick hook and gets off fast..not sure what happens when he starts eating some punches and what will happen when someone figures out that consistent body work will take his speed away..alot of questions to be asked about his chin, stamina, and how he responds to adversity?

ok step back. and he is going to need it because he has no upper body movement. chin way up in the air. arm puncher. snappy jab. not a steady jab. tense.

how boxing works is the promoter pays these guys to show up and get beat up. theyre bought. my grandma beats up guys who show up to get beat up and shes dead.
