Haymon never promoted anyone successfully that was signed to only him.

Almost every single star fighter that left GB and went with just Haymon has had their relevance dip due to the fact they get no promo or marketing. It's all a "do it yourself" thing with Haymon.
I agree, either you ahve to get off your ass and promote yourself, which really gets you more money and more people should do, or you are with DiBella like Wilder or you are with Goosen and etc.

That said he had a relationship with a lot of promoters, I don't know why someone of the younger fighter leave these promotoers make a bogus promotion company for themselves, then refuse to promote.

That said again Al can't promote them and be their manager, that is illegal. Looking back he would have been better off becoming a promoter and setting up fake managers like GBP and Top Rank, but it is what it is. PBC itself though needs to pick up with matchmaking and spots on tv.

I agree with this as well.

The whole "everyone hates Haymon" excuse has run it's course to me. It's time to pull the wool off of our eyes and realize that the majority of Boxers just do not have any business sense at all, and Haymon doesn't have any marketing sense in Boxing at all either.

Imo, signing with Haymon is like in the late 2000s when all the rappers would sign with Koch (haymon) just because you'll make more money than with a true major (promoter)........but they all had horrible promotion and their careers were all over the place. While the guys who stayed at the majors blew up due to labels who knew what they were doing when it came to the promotion. These fighters need to sign themselves with a REAL promoter again, let Haymon be soley an advisor, and get back to business.

knowledge being born...this is an outstanding analogy and post :wow:

but then both ward and jack gave up their belts..so unless theres another mandatory going on..thats looks like its going to be for the true WBA belt

here we go

Sullivan Barrera Furious: I Should Be Fighting Bivol For WBA Title!

When Andre Ward recently retired it opened up the WBA, WBO and IBF light heavyweight titles and when Badou Jack vacated his WBA "regular" title the division became even more wide open.

Red hot contender Sullivan Barrera was very confident that he would get a shot at one of the vacant belts. So naturally his jaw dropped when he heard that Dmitry Bivol would face Trent Broadhurst for the vacant WBA title on November 4th.

"I should be fighting Bivol. He is ranked number 1 and I am number 2. What is the point of the rankings if they won't follow their rules?" Said an incredulous Barrera.

Shortly after winning the title against Nathan Cleverly in August, the WBA ordered a purse bid for Jack to face Bivol. When Jack vacated the title the sanctioning body mysteriously bypassed Barrra and several other more deserving fighters.

What makes this decision even more head scratching is that the unknown Broadhurst is only ranked #11 by the WBA and that Bivol is co-promoted by Barrera's promoter Main Events which should have made it easier to get a deal done to match Bivol and Barrera.

"I think I've paid my dues. My promoter should be getting me that fight. While other fighters are avoiding Bivol, I welcome the challenge. I was ready to fight Badou Jack and I would beat Bivol too!"

Barrera has already beaten Vychaslev Shabransky, Paul Parker and Joe Smith and wants to cap off 2017 with a big fight.

"Since I was child all I've dreamed about in this sport is becoming world champion and this type of politics in the sport just hurts the fighters who are putting in the work. It's just blah blah blah," said a frustrated Barrera.

Let that guy be replaced by Barrera I'd say

They key thing he said in that article, to me, was this:

"I think I've paid my dues. My promoter should be getting me that fight. While other fighters are avoiding Bivol, I welcome the challenge. I was ready to fight Badou Jack and I would beat Bivol too!"

Kathy Duva aint doing her job because she probably wants to save those belts for Kovalev to fight for & plus, a Kovalev vs Barrera fight is bad for Main Events business......because Barrera can beat him:hubie:

Jack vacates light heavyweight world title

Badou Jack has vacated his secondary light heavyweight world title less than a month after winning it.

Jack sent a letter to the WBA on Saturday formally relinquishing the 175-pound "regular" title belt he won by one-sided fifth-round knockout of Welshman Nathan Cleverly on the Floyd Mayweather-Conor McGregor undercard on Aug. 26 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

A purse bid for Jack's mandatory fight with interim titlist Dmitry Bivol, of Russia, was scheduled to take place on Monday.

Jack told ESPN on Monday that vacating the title after he won it was part of the contract he signed when the fight with Cleverly was made and that Mayweather and Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe have something else in the works for him.

"They're working on something big, so I just got to stay patient," Jack said. "It was part of the agreement for us even getting the fight with Cleverly that we had to vacate it after we won."

Jack (22-1-2, 13 KOs), 33, a Sweden native fighting out of Las Vegas, who has faced several quality opponents, said he was by no means trying to avoid a mandatory fight against Bivol (11-0, 9 KOs).

"I'm not ducking a guy who has 11 fights. Look at the guys I have fought. My promoter is looking for bigger and better things for me," Jack said.

Jack, a former super middleweight world titleholder, vacated his title at 168 pounds after slugging his way to a draw in a unification fight with James DeGale in January in order to move up in weight. Jack has also faced Anthony Dirrell, George Groves and Lucian Bute. Now he wants to challenge light heavyweight world champion Adonis Stevenson (29-1, 24 KOs), the big puncher from Montreal.

"I'm looking forward to seeing what's next. I'm ready for whoever's next and the big checks," Jack said. "I want to fight Adonis Stevenson. He's a big name, and he's probably the biggest name in the light heavyweight division now that Andre Ward has retired. If there's a bigger money fight, give that fight to me. If it's [former unified titleholder Sergey] Kovalev, give me him."

Jack said whatever Mayweather Promotions has in store for him, he expects to next fight either in December or in early 2018.

"I'm staying patient," Jack said. "When Floyd promised me a light heavyweight title shot, he delivered. He's always delivered for me. My job is to train and be ready for the next fight, but I want to fight the biggest and best names in the light heavyweight division."

Yvon Michel is some of the worst promoters out there if Jack v Stevenson happens

He did nothing with Beterbiev and Alvarez in the last few years other then keeping them away his other fighter, Stevenson. It's pretty sad how Beterbiev wasted years with him and Alvarez still wasting his years...
Dude should be ashamed of himself

btw Jack vs Stevenson is a better fight and I would like to see it better but gotta feel bad for Alvarez and I hope they compensate him well. He's not some "mandatory for a month but already cries..." he's a mandatory for damn near 2 years now or so...
Shame on the WBC too

from the home of coca-cola, i'm not referring to s
No, HBO blocked Haymon fighters.
This is widely known and reported.
Hershman Steps Down as HBO Sports President

Really shouldn't be surprising though when you look at the names involved at HBO at the time, Greenburg, Hershman.
The current president Peter Nelson just continuing the course.

This is old as fukk.. You do realize Haymon has had multiple fighters on HBO since then right??

His fighters are typically the B-side fighters on other promotions.
That said if it is old as fukk and you knew about it, why say the bullshyt about Haymon fighters voluntarily leaving the network, when you should have known that HBO kicked Haymon fighters off the network and have largely continued to do so.
